Dell complaints

I have purchased 4 systems from Dell (No, I'm not insane) and am having a problem with one of them. Dell support in the past has been useless at best and unbelievably wrong at worst. They also assume everyone that calls is basically an idiot...

New Problem: In January 04, I bought a system that included a flat panel monitor. My invoice reads: "DELL 17 Flat Panel Monitor (promo)" I DID NOT RECEIVE A DELL MONITOR. I received an AOC monitor.

I called Dell to let them know the monitor is DEAD. They tell me, "SORRY, we cannot help you because it is NOT a Dell product. Here's the number for AOC."

What the HECK?? I told him that I assumed I was purchasing a DELL product. Now that the dang thing is dead, they won't deal with me? Isn't that a tad UNETHICAL? That's when the CSR referred me to her manager.

Her manager's scripted reply was, "I am sorry you are having this inconvenience. You will be getting an email with a survey shortly. Is there anything else I can help you with today?" WHAT??? Can I jump through the phone now and slap you around?????

Getting no satisfaction other than an email with a case number, I called AOC. They're pretty decent people. I'll keep the board posted on my progress

That's a whole new shenanigan. Maybe paralleled back when Dell sold HP printers with their packages. I don't know how they handled it then, mine never broke, but I suspect I would have had to call HP.

Dell doesn't make monitors. They are made by Viewsonic. Although the products that have the Dell logo on it are supported.

That AOC monitor wasn't manufactured by Dell. The same would happen if you purchased a Kodak digital camera and something happened to it.

I'm sure AOC is going to take care of your problem better than Dell. You should consider yourself very lucky.
