yeah.. the rumors have been partially confirmed

it's either:

We're gonna be helpdesk OR we're going to ACS OR a combination of the 2.

Could be interesting! I have heard some rumors, but waiting on you all to confirm.

Where is Grissom, he's usually up to date on what's going on in tech support?

i think either way it goes.. it's good for Nashville Tech.. if it's ACS... we'll get Gold Support... if its helpdesk.. we'll be making money rather than a "cost center"

I've heard it's both. ACS/Help Desk. 24 X 7.

Now, do you think there is THAT much work for the Help Desk ? I mean are we going to need some 500 techs, 35 front line managers, 30 RS's and all the AM's and staffing ? I suppose you all know that Brenda Scott is no longer at Dell.

As to "Where is Grissom, he's usually up to date on what's going on in tech support?"

Perhaps he's been off. It's that beautiful time of the year when some are taking vacation.

I only asked about Grissom, because this is/was his area and he usually has something to share.

I was also wanting him to be here during our going away party, but that is nothing compared to what is going on in tech support.

One thing I want to share with you about depart resizing, I am very familiar with Dell and the job shuffle B.S.. If you remember, this is why the forum started to begin with! DO NOT BELIEVE THEM IF THEY SAY YOUR POSITION IS SECURE!!!!!!!

If you get offered severance, take it. If not, then make your transition and start job hunting. It takes them about 60 days to pull one over on you and then your left standing and wondering "what happened"!

Boy, that ought to make their day complete, Blaze. And just when they're getting out the K-Y for next Monday and yet another "improved employee model" (i.e., pay shafting, becoming an annual event at BancTec).

Throw in Tax Day this Friday and, were I in their shoes, I'd probably be busting the chops of anyone wishing me a pleasant weekend. Not good customer relations but . . . .

right now no jobs will be lost... as far as i know...

if your spherion... well thats also up in the air... I belive they have a resolution for you as well and I dont think its letting yall go. The problem is the contracts with spherion dont allow for a departmental transfer and thats what will happen with ACS weather its helpdesk or not.

I have a friend thats an RS (what happend to the L2's???) in Nashville and she told me she was concerned for what she will be doing in her new assignment. As chat is handled out of Austin and the Helpdesk model has no place for RS's.

If your a floor tech you should be loving this change...

Which is to say that you have no idea. In my opinion job loss is an eventuality. Why layoff employees when you can fire them down the road while keeping the ass-kissers ? Look at it this way, if they had layed everyone off at the same time they sent the last vestiges of CTS to India, there would be a big red media flag.

I'd hate to be a temp right now.

ROTFLMAO !!! Good heavens he HAS been turned ! So we're going from supporting hardware where we have the least amount of training and documentation for support possible, to supporting all 3rd party applications and hardware without even a shred of a concept as to how this is going to be done, AND WE'RE SUPPOSED TO LOVE THIS ?

PUT DOWN THE CORPORATE CRACK PIPE !

Not being in tech support I cannot comment of something I don't know...
But least anyone has forgotten....
There was this merge with AM1 (now ECFC) and EG1...We were told no one would lose their position, grade, or money....And it was a lie.

I can confirm what Scoop was talking about! I was downsized after that merge.

Grissom, have you been promoted into management? I hate to call you out on it, but you sound just like them.

the underlying meaning to that management comment is not appreciated... It was stated eairler that would usually have something too ssay, well I said it. Just cause I have learned to not shit entirely where I eat dosent make me a suck up.

BLAZE - No its true that I have no idea whats happening however it also confirms that you also have no idea whats about to happen either. You attended the same meeting I did and got the same answers I did.

The temps were told that they would be converted over... I was there for that one as well.

No i havent turned. I am looking at it from a realistic point of view. There, for thoes of us that want it and are willing to work for it, will be new jobs opening up. As a tech all I have to say about supporting everything is BRING IT!!!!!! I am not affraid of a challenge unlike alot of people up on the 3rd floor. I constantly push myself to learn more and if supporting thoes apps is how I get to do it and get paid for doing it next then so be it.

Not all change is bad. Havent you learned that by now???? You didnt seem to mind when they gave you a bump up in pay when a cerntain new department was brought to nashville... didnt hear you complaining very much about Dell then did I????

What everyone NEEDS too do is to chill out and wait and see what happens. Why is every change meet with fear?

Dude, what do you expect ? You've been so pro-Dell lately.

Yeah but I went a little further. I assume that you only took what was offered. I didn't. I never do.

Yeah and ..... ?

Hey, it's OK. Dell needs you to defend them. You and then some.

And eliminate some old ones. Even some that are not so old. I wonder if the CCON guys are heading back to the floor ? Maybe some of the RS's as well ?

I concur but as I've persistently stated, until we have adequate training and tools, we will simply be an inadequate tech support. Better than India by a long shot but still inadequate.

I don't know what you are inferring but I suggest that you review a few facts first. I have worked in more teams, under more managers and on more projects than you have.

A bump in pay ? Ummmm, yeah. I've recieved a couple of those. No big shakes either way. I'm worth more than they pay me anyway.

Fear ? You sound like one of California's finest calling someone a homophobe. Our opinions are based on the history of the company we work for. A history of mis-management and callous disregard for anything except the bottom line. If not history, what else would you have us use ? A Magic 8 Ball ?

It seems that is part of the human nature...cause everybody is afraid when a change is coming. Many feel they are in an earthquake when facing something new.
