Cool. Glad you're an optimist however just answer me one question. How many times in the last few days have you heard the phrase,

"We don't know"

When referring to how this whole thing is going to come together ?

Things are starting to come together with this whole Helpdesk thing.. there are timelines and job responsibilities that are being laid out. I've only seen that good come from most of Dell's changes.. i mean.. YES we had a layoff but that was what?? 3 years ago now?? it may happen again.. but the talk i hear is that AO-2 is a possiblity with the expansion and growth of this type of service offering.. YES i KNOW we've heard that SOOOO many times before it's crazy.. but if we make the company $25 mil in 8 months.. i think it's a good possibility. If that DOES happen.. more managers, more L2 type roles, more trainers and just more overall headcount.. i agree with Grissom.. wait and see but i think it'll be a good thing!!!

When are they going to be announcing this publicly? Do they have a shareholders meeting coming up soon? Given Dell is a financially traded company, wouldn't the shareholders have a certain amount of say in how the company is run?

Dell is all about "Change for the sake of change". Another appropraite say that applies to Dell is "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit."

no... this is an internal opperations... just doing what they said they would the whole time

brought all major business support 100% back from India and put it in the states... thats 89% of Dells business in comparison to the 11% consumer..

I think the stock holders will be just fine, considering the majority of them are thoes same major accounts.....

Frankly i am glad to get rid of consumer... now i dont have to talk to people that dont have any money and want to bitch more than solve the problem. Costing us a fortune with there self caused problems (yes i am talking to you Mr Spyware and Virus customer) and then there constant need to bitch and whine. And then they wonder why they talk to india? Consumer is icing on the cake for Dell.... nothing more in the big scheme of things... it could go away all togeather and we would make it up in 2 quarters or less.

Last I heard it was more like 80/20. And FYI, they didn't bring back all of the support. Just most of it for the REL accounts. A lot still goes over there including some education accounts
.

Well at least we ended on an up-tick but it's still off from our most recent high where Mikey & Co. bailed. Also I note that the after-hours trading dropped the value again.

37.09 -0.06

While in general I agree, don't you think that Dell should remove the "free" crap that they're currently installing ? Yeah, crap like ViewPoint Media Player and McCrapee ?

For the past 5 years Consumer has played a big part in the post-Y2K sales. Unfortunately Dell couldn't take full advantage of the opportunities that Consumer offered because they refuse to sell cookie-cutter systems like HP/paq. If they had simply sold 1 line such as the Dim 3K with a DVD/RW and a bootable disk-image, they would have saved themselves a lot of trouble and expense. Imagine having the customer insert the first DVD of their set and being able to run diags or reinstall Winderz from right inside Winderz ! But no, Mikey & Co. are too busy for such logic.

that dosent fit with there biz model and you know it... besides you know as well as I do that Dell gets paid a large sum of cash to install that stuff on each box... I think AOL is like 50 a box and then an additional 60 if the cust actually signs up. Why would they stop shipping that stuff? My favorite is the MyWaySearch Toolbar that we put on there now which is Spyware. I also find it very timely that we stop doing any work with any system that has spyware on it. Kinda makes the L1's job pretty easy.

I said major accounts came back... didnt say anything about anything else.... When education and the rest stop buying then they will come back too.... so will consumer.... but consumers arnt smart enough to get togeather and stop all buying... for every 1 consumer that gets pissed off and quits buying Dell there are 3 more that start.... so phuck 'em
