I hate PEOPLE!
I am just barely smart enough to NOT TRUST PEOPLE.
You have overestimated my age by about 25 years, and my IQ by about 100 points.

"Hey... just go online, and give 'em a number!"

My last course was on Investigation of Identity Theft - including Forensic Data Analysis and Conviction Rates. I do know how it's done. I have chosen NOT to be a victim.

You can do what you choose.

When you posted the URL www.techspoot.com/v/b/topic18357.html for the first time you did it incorrectly.

When you re-posted it after my reply you did it correctly: www.techspot.com/vb/topic18357.html

Did you notice the difference Question Check between the v and the b, in the first one there is an aditional forward slash Wink

That's why it didn't work.

Thank you anyway Razz

PS: Did anyone asked you to give us explanations Question Question

No problem, dude. Actually, I'm handling about 7 different machines at the same time, some internet, some straight old novell, some audio processing.... and some forensic stuff.

my fingers tend to get a little fuddled, but you can probably figure it out if you try.

Cheers

Not sure what you mean... as to what I was explaining.
so here's a feeble attempt.

(a) First kid couldn't exist without being plugged in to something, somehow, somewhere. likely doesn't have a life beyond his dell.
Needs to have the electricty turned off for a while just to become useful to someone besides himself.

(b) when I ask for something, a physical item, like say a piece of bread, a stone, or a fishing pole, I do NOT expect to be handed something else back. this whole thread came about as that seems Dell's sales tactic... to try to offer things the user did NOT ask for to try to "push" the sale.
That's standard fare, what is non-standard (at least in the professional world) is the attitude that exudes from the entire operation...
as if Dell was the computer industry version of Howard Stern...
I'm tempted to guess the company mission statement reads something along the lines of
"We are the only decent thing to ever be invented and will stifle all attempts to improve our product by listening to what our clients actually want in order to further our ability to be the only decent thing ever invented"...

At times, my company has purchaed PC's and such by the HUNDRED.
I have purchased software that costs on the order of 40,000 dollars PER MACHINE LICENSE.

In my annonymity, i found I have never been treated by any company quite the way I have been at dell. I'm sure that would change if I had made a major purchase from them.... but I tend to think the best way to evaluate any company is on a personal level. Which I did. and Dell failed. Miserably. I'll probably stick to NEC or such, on a Linux platform. Yes, if you check, this machine signature will be a Dell. Works ok, that's about it. Good thing it was given to me. Woe to the person that asks for "options" when it comes to doing different things with his "Dell"

With all that said....
Wars are won one battle at a time. Changes are made one PERSON at a time. somebody, somewhere, will pull all this crap in one day, read it all,
and make up their own mind how they feel.

Maybe Dell will eventually "loosen up a little" and quit trying to "dominate" the user, or be "all things to all people" or however you best understand me. I've been a little verbose, don't suppose I had to say anything to anybody... could have just put in a different cartridge and gone on.

I stirred up all this crap because people deserve to KNOW how other people feel about all this, beyond stupid comments like
"DUDE!" and "moron" and etc.
