will the psu from a xps420 fit into the chassis of a 410?
If so, what are the specs of the 420psu. and could someone list the RSL sku for it.

Yes, it should fit. the PSU is a pretty standard part.
as far as the power supply, accordign to this thread:
http://direct2dell.com/one2one/archive/2007/10/23/32123.aspx
it looks like depending on the configuration, there is either a 375w or 425w PSU in the 420. |

well, i had a 7900gtx and i had to RMA it, so they replaced it with a 7950gx2, which is twice the card...do you think the PSU in the 410 would support it?
If not, do you konw of any places to get a BTX psu? |

Were they offering to send you the psu from a 420? THat seems like a pretty unusual offer... normally they wont send anything but the part numbers that they have on file that you ordered (or appropriate substitutions)..
www.newegg.com has pretty good prices on alot of computer equipment. |

No, they arnt willing to replace it, im wanting to upgrade the PSU from a 375w to something bigger, but i dunno where to get a btx PSU that will fit into the 420 chassis.
And yes, i know all about newegg. avid shopper there, but as far as power supply's go, again, it relates to the physical size of the psu, as dell makes it so they cant be upgraded. |

That's not totally true, the mounting holes for my optiplex 745 are industry standard. I put the old power supply up beside one from an older compaq and the dimensions and mounting holes are the same.
The only real difference that I can see is that the 20pin motherboard connector comes out of the bottom of the power supply instead of the side. As long as you don't mind the cable routing being messy, a normal power supply should work just fine.
If you want a dell OEM supply might try watching on eBay, I scored a 375w out of a precision workstation for like $20 because i wanted a pci-express connector for the video card in my optiplex 745. |

Provided you dont have one of those ultra-slim cases, i think the mounting holes and dimensions are pretty standard. |
