See: <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/technologyNews/idUSWNAB624720081231?feedType=nl&feedName=ustechnology&pageNumber=1&virtualBrandChannel=0">http://www.reuters.com/article/technologyNews/idUSWNAB624720081231?feedType=nl&feedName=ustechnology&pageNumber=1&virtualBrandChannel=0</a>

Well, this article explains a lot! I bought a power house $3K laptop, including docking station, monitor, and wireless mouse, from DELL in August 2007, and it never worked! After several calls, emails, and documented chat logs, they sent two separate techs to troubleshoot and repair on-site.

The techs replaced the motherboard, CPU, and Memory , but diagnostics run on the hard drives displayed errors the techs had never experienced and didn't know how to fix. One of the Techs said I obviously bought a “lemon” and they’d seen it happen before.

Despite my extended warranty, DELL would not give my money back. After I got the BBB involved last month, they agreed to replace it with a NEW, not refurbished, laptop of equal or greater value...but never shipped the replacement because shipping is on hold until after the holidays.

What holidays? Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day, Boxing Day (??!!!???) WHAT?

They just informed me that shipping may be on hold even longer because of the excessive holidays coming in January and February.

The support person also said, "Everyone knows about Boxing Day. It's on the US calendar."

I suppose they'll keep making excuses until my extended three-year warranty expires in 2010.

Do you think I'll ever get my money back, or at least the approved "exchange"?
I'm not holding my breath.
Frankly, I was really shocked about the lack of quality and service. The company has obviously gone downhill. I don't appreciate losing the money, either, especially for what turned out to be a very expensive paper weight on my desk.

It was hard enough to be unemployed and to lose 1/2 my retirement in this economy, but my one tool for sending resumes and networking for full time employment was another economic drain since it was deemed completely useless.

write,
Dhell has lied to you multiple times. To begin with, there are no excessive corporate holidays coming up in January or February. The exception to this might be in Malaysia where DHell's outsourced notebook manufacturing operations are located. But then again, there are probably exceptions to these exception to the tune of clauses in the contracts with the notebook outsourcers that call for a minimum daily production quota that has to be met or they will be fined.
The next fact is that January is the end of both the fiscal 4th quarter and year for DHell. So excessive holidays during January is financial suicide for DHell especially in the current economy.
The next fact is that Boxing Day is very rarely celebrated in the U.S. Last time I checked, this holiday was more commonly celebrated in the U.K. Besides this fact, there are multiple holidays in the U.S. that people celebrate but DHell employees do not get time off for.
So I would say that Yes DHell is "stonewalling" you until either the warranty runs out or you give up and go away. My suggestion to you is to step up your game and not only re-file a complaint with the BBB, but also file complaints with your State's Attorney General Office and the Fedral Trade Commission. Both of these last two complaints should get DHell's attention very quickly.

Sorry about the resurrection by the way - I'm usually quite good at avoiding that on forums but I didn't look at the date this time for some reason :/

I build computers for a living and never had so many problems as i do with dhell.I have a opticrap 320 that passes all diagnostic tests but will not boot ,unless you tap the f2 very fast and get in the bios. If it will go into the bios. Then i have another that does the exact thing, what are the chances that two opticraps have the exact same problem, one in two
