Was it a case of:
A. You got called into your boss's office (or conference room), where your boss and an HR drone said "blah blah blah we're letting you go; sign away all your legal rights and will give you some cash".
or
B. You got called into your boss's office (or conference room), where your boss and an HR drone said "Here's an offer of some cash for you to decide RIGHT NOW to 'explore other career opportunities' instead of us putting you on PIP and firing you in 60 days" |

It was desktops aren't sellin like laptops, it's nothin personal.
The sups didn't know nothin, they were as blindsided as the associates. 
you got a week to accept or decline.
you was encouraged to accept the offer but could wait round a month see if you can find a spot, if not, you was let go an no offer.
