I noticed no new rumors on this site about lay offs... all my sources, including myself were laid off... So the lay offs must be done...

I am thinking of re-applying there... got laid off early 2008 and want to know how the attitude is there... is it still a good place to work?

Or should I count my blessings and move on...

Though they tell you your official status is 'eligible for rehire', I think you'll find you won't be considered. I wasn't.

I only know one person who was rehired. Then--get this--he was laid off again, rehired again and laid off again. This guy was a C2 engineer, good corporate demeanor, productive, not a troublemaker. In other words, there was nothing wrong with him. Dell just kept 'reorganizing' him out of work.

Now you tell me. Is THAT a good place to work?

True - I do not have that worry now - and with their stock depleting 50+ % since I was let go... Expect MORE layoffs...

Did you receive any monetary compensation from Dell like severance packages and in lieu of notice money? If you have not thrown away the agreement you signed with Dell read it again. You may have agreed to a stipulation that you have to pay back the money you got once you get rehired by Dell. In my case, It's bye bye forever Dell for me!

I was seriously considering re-applying for a Sales position shortly after I was laid off from the Ottawa site.

I was HOPING that I would get hired to work at one of those Kiosks. There were two here in Ottawa that I know of - the one at St. Laurent and the other in Bayshore. I'd get hired, trained, then laid off with another sweet package...

It didn't happen. Dell closed that little back door shortly after they axxed the best XPS tech support site on the planet. I hope they're getting their $1.50/hr worth from those fucking monkeys in the Phillippines.

I don't think Dell has changed one smidgeon since June.

Anyone is far better off going to work for Wendy's, Pizza Hut as the money is better and conditions may not be fantastic but at least you are not lied to and expected to lie for the company.
Not talking down to anyone but why would anyone (knowing what we all know) want to work for Dell under any circumstances.
Is there anyone that would like to live in a concentration camp?
Is there anyone that would like to move to North Korea?

If you are out there and you really want to do these things then you may enjoy a second round at Dell!

If you really want to go back to work for Dell then I have nice bridge that I will give you a good deal on located in Round Rock Area!

Actually Nash, one thing that can be said in four words would make me go back to DHell and that one thing is an "Executive Level Compensation Package." Translation: DHell would have to offer me a salary and benefits package that would make members of the Executive Leadership Team jealous and then guarantee this package for 6 years before I would even think about going any where near another DHell building.

I have decided that in lieu of the recent drop in Stock value to $11.98 and that one of the statements in my departure meeting was that they were laying me off in appeasment of the share holders... I foresee more lay offs coming since the stock was at $25 a share the day I was laid off... and now it is not even woth half of that...

So how did that appeasement work for ya, Dell?

Like I said in a neighboring frame, we should start a pool when it's going to hit single digits.

BTW, $25 is half the value it was when they laid ME off to appease shareholders.
