I ordered a Dell laptop via Dell's financial services a month ago. It was due to be delivered on Monday. I checked my order status just now and found to my horror that the delivery date has been pushed to November 5! I think two months for delivery a laptop is nothing short of ridiculous, so I would like to cancel my order. Is it possible to cancel orders made by dell financial services? will the contract be terminated? I can't imagine what they could possibly be doing that would take them two months to assemble my laptop!

By all means cancel. And NEVER use Dell Financial. They may confirm your cancellation, and ship the product anyway, hoping you'll take it. That's just the tip of the iceberg how crooked they are.

If the product arrives, refuse delivery. It's your last line of defense.

Yeah, I have discovered that after reading this forum (sadly, after I made my order). I've already signed all the papers and they've taken my deposit. I'm not even sure about how to cancel. I contacted their customer support under the 'refund my order' heading, but I don't know if that's the right one. By 'refuse delivery' do you mean just straight out tell the delivery man to go away? If I do that will they refund my order? This forum has half scared me to death about Dell financial services so I'd love to get out of it if I can. I just don't know if I can do that after signing the papers? Ack, this is so scary Sad

Yes you can tell the delivery person you refuse the delivery. And as I understand it, if you do not receive a product, they can't bill you. They may anyway, but ultimately you can get it reversed.

I'm not sure how to cancel either. That's ANOTHER problem with DFS, you can't ever reach them or get them to do anything. They will add charges to your account you can't get explained or reversed. And even if they say they will do something, you can't trust that they will.

That's just the problems with financing, not counting the problems with the product which can be equally hard to resolve. There is no aspect of Dell's business with which you want to be involved.

Ah, I got an email back from them this morning. They've cancelled my order and refunded me my deposit. Not as bad as I was anticipating. Thanks for the advice; I'll order a MacBook instead.

I think you'll be much happier with the Mac.

Still, be on the alert for anything Dell might ship you, and refuse it. Even though they SAY they are cancelling the order, they still might ship it trying to obligate you to pay for it. They've done it before.

Rocket is on the money on this one. You want to cancel your order, refuse delivery, obtain as many records as you can on that you have refused delivery, and double check again. You will DEFINITELY be happier with your Mac. I know I would be. I am still vex-in over my dhell.

OK. I just ordered a laptop from dell at the beginning of september. It was scheduled to be delivered on October 7th. That day they sent me an e-mail saying delivery would be delayed by a month and I would be recieving it November 5th. Why the hell does it take 2 months for them to get a laptop to me. This is ridicolous.

Have you read this thread?
Cancel the order now.

Don't reward them for misleading you.
