Now why on earth is there a label in the Irish manufacturing factory that clearly states "Assembled in the USA"?
I have one with me which I can photo, but cba atm.
There have been whispers on the factory floor before how the computers that Dell assembles for the US military are not supposed to be assembled anywhere else except for the US, but they are here in Ireland and in China too from what I have been told. Who knows if that is true? |

That's fairly suspicious alright, fish. Dell being the profligate liars they are, I'd say you've caught them lying--again.
Unless of course they mean the STICKER was assembled in the USA. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

Wouldn't it be lovely if Dell got caught up in "Sticker-Gate"?
This would be just another piece of their intricate web of lies. I'm fairly certain that this would be a criminal offence punishable by law and heavy, heavy fines of some sort if they are deliberately misleading people by saying it was "Assembled in the USA" when in fact, it never touched American soil during build. "Meant to screw USA" would be a more appropriate sticker to use.
Maybe someone should operate as a "Deepthroat" and drop a complaint to these people:

| FTC Explains ‘Made in USA’ Standard To Confirm Consumer Confidence wrote: |
In the aftermath of the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, news reports suggest that more American consumers are seeking out products that are "Made in the USA" with the expectation that the claim is truthful and accurate.
According to the Federal Trade Commission, "Made in USA" means that "all or virtually all" the product was, indeed, made in America. The agency enforces the standard to ensure commercial compliance and confirm consumer confidence.
For a "Made in USA" claim to be accurate, all significant parts, processing and labor that go into the product must be of U.S. origin. Products should not contain any — or only negligible — foreign content.
According to FTC officials, there's no law that requires manufacturers and marketers of most products to disclose U.S. content. In fact, except for automobiles and textile and wool products, it's a manufacturer or advertiser's choice to say whether a product is domestic. But those who choose to make the claim must adhere to the "all or virtually all" standard.
While the FTC enforces the "Made in USA" standard, it's the U.S. Customs Service that oversees the requirements that imported goods be marked with a foreign country of origin (for example, "Made in Japan").
If you believe that a product is being erroneously promoted as "Made in USA" because it wasn't - or because it contains significant foreign parts or processing - call the FTC, toll-free, at 1-877-FTC-HELP or file a complaint online at ftc.gov. If you are aware of import or export fraud, call the U.S. Customs Service Commercial Fraud Hotline, 1-800-ITS-FAKE. |

I wonder if the new DHell units headed for store shelves will have the "Made in USA" label on the box. After all, they're being shipped from Tennessee to the stores but being assembled in Mexico. Maybe the box will be made in USA? _________________ Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia. |

Dell could walk the thin line between blatantly lying and figurative lying, by saying "assembled in America". Mexico is geographically part of North America.
I'm a lot more concerned that the Mexico assembly operation is a unit of Foxconn, the Chinese hosebags. I'm even concerned for Mexicans; Foxconn is that bad. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist
