Decision makers!!! Please do not get rid of our tech support hosers from the great white north!! They are awesome and they are our friends!!!!
I put them right in line with good old Texas!!! Texas and Canada can not be beat!!!!
They are worth a few extra dollars!!! Just pass it on to the customer!!!
They won't mind!!
And those dang 1330m/1530m's should not be considered field serviceable IMHO!!!!
Keep up the good work Dell.

| Tech support for Compaq after 2 AM was via Canada and so for important server issues my nights were very late but the resolutions were quick and pleasant. My recent calls to Dell start with a call director not in India but the end result is always India. Nothing against India but the end result is always a failed attempt at a resolution. |

Knowing some very highly skilled ethnic workers (yes, most of them Indians), it was always clear to me that there are so many out there, but they're not concentrated where they need to be or are allocated to be.
IMO, the foreign workers that we are now forced to deal with globally, well it's hit and miss with results. If you're lucky you'll hook up with one of the skilled ones. Predominantly though, we mostly seem to end up with underqualified script readers that have enough technical knowledge to fill a thimble halfway.
I thank my lucky stars each day that I don't have to deal with them as often as some or most do. I'm patient to a fault, but my patience has limits just like anyone else's, and when it's gone, it gets ugly in a hurry. If I had to call technical support for this issue, or that issue, and got stuck with a script monkey, I'd probably just want to chuck myself out my window out of frustration alone.
They're (Indians) not all incompetant overseas. Even the qualified ones are just as likely to be saddled by policy and procedure to prevent actual resolution or results. It's not so much "them", as it would be the company making it impossible for "them" to supply what is needed. |

Oklahoma speaks English. Mostly. I lived there.
India speaks English too, when they want to. Dell contractors offer them little if any incentive. Almost nobody works for Dell-sub-India longer than 6 months.
Dell operational policy prevents them from being helpful even when they want to be. The contractor's hiring policy accepts anyone who can point-and-click and read back what pops up on their screen.
If you put Americans under the same set of ludicrous, anti-customer constraints, you'd get about the same results, just with a differennt accent.
There's nothing wrong with India.

i work for dell now, and we are put under bullshit scripts. you dont have to be a monkey and read them, but you do have to get the service tag, email address, first and last name, and call back number on every call which does annoy customers who are in a rush. |

You're correct, almost. I believe 90% of the workforce is now overseas, with the rest barely hanging on in North America. Those final few locally won't last much longer I suspect. |

Rocke's been clear enough, but as I said in another topic, a good relationship depends on the customer too. _________________ I see DELL people!!
