Shocked

Wish I'd found this site BEFORE losing my mind in Dell Hell... look, I worked in two different sectors of Dell Hell - in sales- which was fantastic for the most-part (aside from the dimwitted, thumb-twittling, ass-kissing midlevel managers) and in a "behind-the-scenes" position with extremely upper-level vice presidents and senior vice presidents in the engineering side of Dell. I saw Michael Dell in person or in meetings no less than twice a month. You'd think I would've retired from Dell and I'd still be living a good life off the leftover money I was paid, right? WRONG! I left Dell in September of 2005 and haven't looked back. Didn't shed a tear. Wasn't afraid for a moment.

The truth of the matter is, Dell employees are incredibly loyal to Dell, the products, the management, and the ideals that managment tries to shove down your throat, like "winning culture" and "drive for results". The fact is - and this is a FACT - that Dell management starting from mid-level and rolling all the way up the chain to the executives, don't give a shit about regular, everyday Dell employees. You are expendible. You are there for them to abuse and humiliate. You are there for them to "rate and rank". You are there for them to make millions in incentives, quarterly bonuses and more stock options. You are paid too little. You work too many hours. You are scrutinized at every turn. And for what? For great benefits? Sure, they are great. For a "cool" company gym? You bet. But at what price? Your self-respect? Your dignity? Your piece of mind?

Listen folks, Dell was great for a moment. Dell does have good benefits. But Dell doesn't give a damn about the common AMERICAN employee. Dell doesn't care that ROUND ROCK supported, promoted and BUILT this company. In October of 2005 Dell laid off 2500 people, and I have it on GOOD MERIT that there are more layoffs coming in mid-February 2006. The total should come to about 5000. And what did Dell just announce this past Monday, January 31? That they are building a NEW India plant, and that they are hiring 5000 people in India. I am ALL FOR free trade and good jobs in foreign countries, but I am NOT all for that happening at the expense of hard working, dedicated Americans - TEXANS no less.

Save yourself the heartache, the insanity, and the inevitable need for counseling and GET A JOB SOMEWHERE ELSE!

There IS life after Dell! Hell.

There is a REASON that Dell was #1 on the MOST ADMIRED list - they're friggin rolling in CASH!

But there are efven MORE reasons that Dell is NO WHERE on this list of the Fortune Top 100 Companies to work for:

I brought up the point in one team meeting that I felt like we are all expendable and that dell could just bring in anyone to do my job and were not that important. Never got a real answer from my mgr at the time or the L2 in the meeting.

And if you put that SAME "I'm expendable" comment on your quarterly TELL DELL - you won't get an answer either. I worked in a position where I helped READ AND COMPILE those "anonymous" Tell Dell reports - the managers literally get together and LAUGH and SLAM the employees that write them. It's all so sad. Sad sad sad. Laughing
