As the cost of shipping continues to soar along with fuel prices, homegrown manufacturing jobs are making a comeback after decades of decline.

While it once cost $3,000 to ship a container from a city like Shanghai to New York, it now costs $8,000, prompting some businesses to look closer to home for manufacturing needs.

Watch "World News" tonight at 6:30 p.m. EST for the full report.

Furniture designer Carol Gregg used to have her signature Chinese chests assembled in China, but such a luxury no longer seems viable, considering that some of her pieces now cost five times more to ship.

So now Gregg is having the chests made in North Carolina, simply because its cheaper.

Some large companies like Crown Battery are cutting expenses by moving jobs from Mexico to Ohio. And hair care company Farouk Systems plans to shift all of its production from China to Houston this summer — bringing with it 1,000 jobs.

A break in the clouds. At $5 a gallon, we'll go broke slower WITH jobs than we would without.

It's early to say, but there may be another break in the clouds. Over the past week, gas went down 9 cents instead of up 20.

End the sham American occupation overseas and oil will drop like a hot rock.

Yeah right, like THAT will ever happen. George and his cronies are making far too much money to end that occupation.

N-n-n-o-o-o. You can't blame oil prices on Muslim resentment. It's entirely manufactured by US futures traders.

Yeh, there's that, and that Cheney still runs Halliburton, the only entity profiting from Iraq.

Um, no.

Anyone that has investments in oil futures in serving to benefit, hence the reason why the war was launched in the first place, and why the war is still ongoing and will likely not end in the foreseeable future. War is the only matter of which you are guaranteed to make profit.

Broke? Start a war.

Recession? Start a war.

Economy struggling? Start a war.

The rich get richer and the poor are left to mop up.

Let's do the math:

Take a US job at $55,000/year, and ship it overseas.
Pay overseas worker $10,000/year.
Now, take overseas job, and ship it back to the US.
Pay US worker $25,000/year for job returned to the US.

Boy, such a deal...
