I have not experienced so much bad customer service in my life!!! Ok so the money for my laptop came out of my bank account on 12th June, the laptop got made and was dispatched the next day. I was given a tracking number and it looked like it was on its way. So where is it?

I contacted Dell, APPARENTLY I HAVE NOT PAID FOR THE LAPTOP!!! So is there not a little image on the main website pointing out that the laptop does not get made or dispatched until the bank has authorised and cleared the payment?!?!?!?! Now I go and check WELSH WESTERN of whatever there called now, and apparently they have sent it back to Dell because I haven't """paid for it""" what a load of rubbish! No one on the phone is English, and the other day I tried buying 2 other items, 1 items payment was taken from my account, the other was not, but due to """internal errors""" the order was not placed, and I wasn't told it was cancelled!

Now I want my laptop, so I need some assistance in what the problem is. Someone from the financial department WAS MEANT TO CONTACT ME TODAY but I never received the phone call, surprise, surprise! Now I have informed Trading Standards of Dell's practices, and I will be on the phone to them tomorrow getting my laptop! If something goes wrong, I am going to take a County Court Summons out on this case!

I have never been so appalled by the customer service, I need this laptop for University, and they are making it impossible! How hard is it to confirm payment, build a laptop, and deliver it on time! Not rocket science!

Now can any kind person who can help me out please assist.

It only gets worse once the product is delivered. Cancel the entire transaction. Dell will only continue to stonewall you.

Your financial institution will respond. Inform them that the product has not been delivered, you cancelled the transaction, and request that they block or rollback any charges. If the product DOES arrive, refuse delivery.

You do NOT want a Dell, just their advertising and pricing makes you THINK you do. Buy ANYthing else. Over the life of the product, it will cost you less in money and grief than a Dell will. Buy from a storefront retailer, where there are live people who speak your language and will respond to you.

First, go and see someone at your bank and explain what happened, get them on your side. Ask them what they can do to assist you. Be prepared to show them detailed proof of all of this. Technically, DELL just committed fraud. Your bank may even reverse the withdrawal. If they do, go buy something else and forget DELL products. This is commonplace. Your head-aches won't be over because DELL will keep trying to withdraw money. You may have to close your account completely. If your bank cooperates, here's your next step:
Contact DELL during regular business hours on a weekday, immediately ask for a supervisor. Say as little as possible to the agent that picks up the phone. He/she will try to de-escalate you and avoid involving a supervisor. Be insistent, but calm, When you get the supervisor, ask for his Rep ID or badge number... and full name. Write it down. Tell him what DELL did and that they've lost your business. Let him know that the error is on their end and any negative impact this has on your credit will be actioned legally. Make sure he gives you a case/reference number. If that goes well, here's your next step:
Contact your local government consumer protection bureau. File a formal complaint against DELL. You'll need to do this to cover your ass, because DELL will likely try to collect somehow and mess with your credit standing. You may want to contact a lawyer as well.

Sounds like a lot of work to fix DELL's mistake, huh? Well, you're not alone. Welcome to dealing with DELL. The most important thing to do is run to your bank and get your money back. DELL may realize their error but not soon enough to satisfy you. The whole plot hinges on your bank's response in this sordid, yet all too common scenario. Oh, and expect DELL monkeys to call you up and try and smooth things out. They'll offer rebates or free stuff. Decline their offers.

Do what you have to do to get your money back and buy something else. You think you have problems now? Wait until something goes wrong with the machine. And something will go wrong. They'll try to convince you it's not a part or issue covered by warranty or that it's software related, and off you go to DELL On Call to buy a software support contract. By the way, I'm a former DELL On Call tech... I've gotten lots of calls that sound just like the problem your having.

Now that's said and done, DON"T EVER BUY A DELL PRODUCT AGAIN!!!!!! Tell all your friends. Tell anyone who'll listen. They're pieces of shit sold by con-artists for a master con-man who has based his multi-billion dollar empire on screwing the consumer. Sites like this exist for a reason. We're not just grumpy DELL and ex-DELL employees that have had a bad day. We were there. We saw the crap that goes on. Some of us are still there. I left for this very reason. I couldn't peddle DELL's lies anymore.

I hope it works out for you. I really do. Please keep us posted and be prepared for more posts on this subject. We all want to help.

See above. We don't just say what we say because we hate Dell, we say it because we have heard the same story as yours from customers for 5 years.

It's what Dell does. And what we do is make it public. Thanks for adding to the database.
