Dell is not the only bad company. There is a common element to ERON, WorldCom, Dell, Countrywide, etc. The consumer has no way to protect himself. Each time the public votes for "Tort Reform," they vote to reduce their rights. A few years ago Californians voted to destroy the best consumer statute in the country, Bus & Prof Code 17200.

Big Business with the help of Gov Arnie pushed a ballot measure to "stop the greedy lawyers." The so called greedy lawyers were consumer advocates and they were "stopped" by removing their power to prevent corrupt businesses from cheating the public. You hear people say, "There ought to be a law." Well there was a law but Arnie helped to destroy it.

Now computer manufacturers can lie to you, give you defective parts, provide the wrong parts, refuse to provide support services, and do whatever they want and there is nothing you can do about it.

There was a time when you could sue the crooks and if your lawsuit had merit and if your lawsuit helped not just yourself but the public by protecting them from corrupt businesses, the business had to pay all the attorney fees and reimburse all the people they had cheated.

Corruption works, and the companies that cheat the public make more money and than the honest companies who then have to start cheating the public in order to stay in business. When a particular industry becomes totally infected, then it crashes like the home mortgage crisis.

If you want to stop corrupt corruptions, we need laws that say is it illegal to cheat people and then permit people to sue without having to spend their life savings.

Business OWNS the government. Which if I'm not mistaken, was the principle we fought WW2 Italy over. Google 'fascism' and correct me if I'm mistaken.

Business unquestionably owns the Republican party, and no less than 2/3rds of the Democratic party.

It's every man for himself, here in the 21st century. 'They' have legislation and lobbyists. 'We' have purchasing options, and that's about all. Vote? If it made a difference, do you really think they'd let us do it? (That's not an original observation, it's from a much older and more profound observer than I.)
