I am a computer technician and whenever I need to go to Dell's web site to find drivers for customer's computer, I know it's gonna be a pain. I don't understand why Dell put more than one drivers for specific device of specific model. For example, (this is always makes me really really mad at Dell) I need a Video driver, oops, for that model of Dell computer, Dell always has over 10 drivers on their support web site. Most of the time, all of them are not working. After you spent time and took the risk of damage the computer again by trying all the driver, oops again, none of them is correct. OK, call the Dell technical support. OK, pls. pay $39.99 and than they will help you. I believe Dell does not put right drivers on their web site on purpose to make more money from supporting customer. I really hate Dell. I won't recommend any of my customer buy Dell, that's for sure.

Even internally to Dell--when I worked there--the driver website, both external and internal, could not be counted upon. If you own a Dell and need a driver, you'd better be well-above-average in terms of resourcefulness. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

Resourcefulness, like I said. Even that won't always solve the problem. When Intel transitioned to ICH7, the driver for the Dell onboard audio chip was not available from the vendor OR from Dell.
The vendor site said "released through OEM only". The Dell site, even the internal one, only offered the previous driver. In the lab, I had to copy it off a working image. Customers, of course, don't have that option. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

OK, that means even customer paid $39.99 still won't get problems solved b/c even the support guy doesn't know where to get the right driver. Now I know why people hates Dell. I will let everyone I know stay far far away from Dell.

On my Dell custom driver online downloads list, they have drivers for hardware my Dell doesn't even have. Go figure.
