InTheKnow - You have not been able to get your source to speak even though they are no longer connected? I believe they might have the date pin pointed...

Barbie seems to have some pretty convincing information that appear to be facts rather than just speculation. I think all Dell employees will be relieved when it is over because the stress and worry isn't healthy for anyone. July 4th may take on a second meaning for some when Independence day is celebrated because knowing Dell they will wait until a holiday to drop the axe.

I would actually hate to lose my job but I will be glad when all of this is over and the finally have “the big one". The rumors, speculations and uncertainty have been hard on the family. We are as prepared as we can be so I personally hope Barbie is right.

Yeah. My source shriveled up. She was fired and given a large termination bonus with conditional provisions. She was in HR in Nashville for awhile. Funny thing, her walking papers gave her extra weeks pay on condition she didnt disclose ANY information to ANYONE and she zipper her lips. Must have been a nice termination bonus. Heck, anyone would love to get paid lots of money by Dell to not work there anymore. I think maybe she is actually Barbie. Who knows, the mods can see her IP and tell her location but they seem to be professionals. I think Barbie is a the real deal. The information she is stating is very consistent with the information that was being provided to me ac ouple of months ago that I already published.

Warning: I wanted to pass out a warning to those posting here... If you are on the chopping block and think or better yet know you are being released, I would watch yourself while at work and make sure you are still making your numbers or quota or expressing interest in the sucess of the company and department (For if there is no work since they pushed it offshore, still express your desire for the success of Dell and you department -I KNOW it has been hard for me to do)... for management could / might hold you accountable for what you say and do... and remove any hopes for a package... for that matter watch your posts on forums such as this...

I think we have at least one more week, perhaps two for this new round and management might be looking at sites such as this to catch one of us slipping... so bring headphones and listen to music on CD or ipod / bring a book - something to occupy you to help you not fall into your anger and respond in a manner in which you might regret... and I MUST practice what I preach... or I will slip up and speak my mind - so I am preaching to myself too Wink

It looks like next week could be the week in Round Rock. I may have to upgrade the watch to a warning sometime next week.

I was actually hoping the good quarter may save some jobs. I guess not. I guess Dell's philosophy is we are making money, but we need lots more. I am just tired of the lay offs hanging over are heads.

It will be a relief once it actually happens.

I am tired of "the big one" always being “next week". It is always just around the corner. I hope that it finally happens next week so we can just go on with our lives.

I agree with you - I am tired of "Will it be next week"... so I have made a decision to start my outside adventures...
With that being said, from what I am hearing - you will be getting your wish within the next two weeks... now will you be on the list? Who knows... I am not 100% sure if I am on that list / I am about 5% sure that I am going to remain at Dell... but I welcome the release when it comes and am ready for what will come up... So have a plan when it does happen - don't just go blindly into the unemploymnet bliss without a plan.
Any update on those "Boxes of Employee Files" AKA "Severance" packages? Have they moved in RR - watching those will give us some insight as to when the movements will happen...

Well... if it's any consolation, everyone that worked with me and was let go from Ottawa is doing very well in their DELL-free lives. I've gotten myself a quiet, federal government posting through an agency that will keep me going for a while. And, it just might become permanent. So, there's life after DELL and it's sweeeeeet.
