I suggest there should be a report button in each post, to report spammers and whatnot.

The same asshole, this time by the name of

I wanted to report the son of a bitch but I couldn't find a list of staff members to PM and no administrtors or moderators were online.

A report button would be helpful in getting rid of these morons as quickly as they appear.

Thank you.

This version of phpbb doesn't support the 'report' function. It wouldn't alter the time-to-deletion. That's a function of the fact there are a lot more spammers than there are moderators.

During the business day, I delete spam roughly once an hour. And it's STILL not enough. Sorry. We have worked on it, but spammers are very determined and resourceful.

Thanks for your reply. At least you're trying!

At the very least, a list of staff members would be helpful so people here can pm them when they spot spam. That would take some of that work off your hands.

Staffers delete spam whenever they are here and spot it. Actually, notification would create MORE work, as then we'd have to go read and process the notification.

We have anti-bot software that's about 97% effective. But the spammers have anti-anti-bot software, and about one out of 30 gets through anyway. Plus the near-certainty that Dell made sure this site was on the subscription list of spam targets.

Hey Rocke,

Can't we call DOC to see if they know how to fix this, or can't we get some anti-anti-anti bot s/w Smile

That only lasted 24 hrs, as an experiment and data collection. Remember, the next day I changed the topic to "DO delete spam", then took it down altogether.

There is a-a-a-bot s/w. Thing becomes, not all such integrates into this platform. The platform has some other limitations too, like a notorious failure to update smoothly. Nothing's ever simple.
