I used to work for Hell but quit...best decision I have ever made recently!
However, my brother and sister-in-law are still there, and my baby sis works there as a temp (assigned worker, they call 'em out there). My brother told me that a bigwig within the Hell organization came out and told the 1st shift workers (his wife is one of these) that Hell pays their slaves in China a mere $3 an hour, while most employees at WS1 are paid $11 hourly for the same quality work. The audience grew very quiet,
according to my sister-in-law. Have they any reason to be frightened for their jobs? God, I am so glad I found office work-production really stinks! |

They may have something to worry about. Maybe that is a heads up that their jobs are being sent overseas. However I think that person went about it very unprofessional if that is how he goes about relaying the information to the staff. Which sux. _________________ That's All Folks!!! | To me this would signal a scare tactic. The bigwig obviously has all the tact of a nuclear missle, and nothing gets said without intent or we'd all be walking around spontaneously blurting words to no one. |

There were rumors going around TMC last week about WS1, PN1 and TMC. What I heard was that TMC will be gone before September this year, PN1 will be gone in 18 months and WS1 will be gone in 3 years. The details I heard was that Dell will be outsourcing this work either overseas (China or India) or to Mexico. The last little bit of information I heard was to keep an eye out for a manager named Matt Diamond. (TMC had him last year.) I was told that he was an Outsourcing Specialist (Translation: His job is to find ways for Dell to send jobs outside the U.S.). _________________ Q: How do you know Dell Management is lying to you?

It makes sense to me from a fiscal stand-point. The incentives that Hell recieved from the state of NC will be up by that timeframe. After that the only reason they haven't out-sourced all of manufacturing is logistics. It simply isn't cost effective to transport the systems from a 3rd World country to the US, unless it can be done in large bulk shipments ( ie laptops).
But once they can figure that out, all US manufacturing will be history.
All I can say is "I saw the writting on the wall and left" |
