Dubai's Tecom in talks with Dell, plans buyouts

SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Egypt (Reuters) - Tecom Investments, a telecom investor owned by the ruler of Dubai, is mulling a joint venture with Dell Inc. (NasdaqGS:DELL - News) and said it expects to make up to three acquisitions in the Middle East and Africa this year, including in a mobile phone firm.
At least one of the purchases is likely to be in the United Arab Emirates, of which Dubai is a member, Abdullatif al-Mulla, chief executive officer of Tecom Investments, said in an interview in Sharm el-Sheikh, ahead of a World Economic Forum conference.

Tecom has been in contact with Dell about a possible joint venture, Mulla said, declining to be more specific about Tecom's plans.

Everyday people go into work thinking, could this be the day that I'm free. Still though alot of people are stressed from the ax being held over their head everyday. No one knows what day the ax will fall. If anyone has any predictions for a timeframe for customer service in Round Rock, please let us know.

I am hearing some chatter from outside sources... Rather than go into what I am hearing - I will ask for an update... and if I hear the same number from another source, I will reveal... the risk is - the chatter may just be rumor...

Any movement on those employee boxes/files?
Has it been confirmed they are severance packages?

I know in the area I work nothing is being said, but I do know something is bound to happen based on what InTheKnow has written. When InTheKnow speaks, something usually happens.

Sounds like it might hit tomorrow. One of Dell's normal routines is to cut people before a holiday weekend. The soon to be former employees come in on the last day before a three day weekend and they find out that their weekend has just become longer. Dell's gets to save money on salary cost and because the employee was terminated before the holiday, Dell does not have to pay out the holiday time as well.

As "InTheKnow" eluded to earlier - the meetings are done, the people have been chosen, the paper work has been printed... it is just a matter of time...
Has there been any movement on the paper work?

I like the weekend/holiday logic sounds like something fdHell would do...

Next week will prove to be interesting... Lets just pick Thursday as "D" Day! Multiple sources have reveal a large quantity of Involuntary separations will occur by mid June... starting with next week.
