sounds like somebody may have some anger issues.
The policies are not geared to not losing money. They are geared to amke as much money as they can from every possible method. Their policies are also geared to stopping as many expenditures as possible. They do this through one avenue of thought: screw the customer. _________________ "The art of Engineering is knowing what you can safely ignore." -Dr. H. Hess

look at it this way...if dell didn't have policies that kept them from loosing money to customer that didn't know how to use the product much less how to use anything, they would just charge you for every little thing. so ever time you saw what can i help you with today would cost you about 69 dollars for one issue. so there wouldn't be anymore of the "i don't know what a device manager is" or "how do you right click" bs that i put up with everyday. |
If you look underneath my username, there is the word "Moderator". I'm here because I want this site to be the best that it can be, to stop flame wars as soon as possible, and to delete spam (and spammers) as soon as they are caught. My purpose here is to not bitch but to help others whenever possible.
People come here "to bitch" because Dell's policies make them feel as if they're being screwed over, and this gives them a place to vent instead of their taking it out on some helpless, outsourced-to-India telephone "service" rep.
My post pointed out that, just because a company "has policies" will not prevent it from going out of business for a myriad of reasons.

Here is why we complain, because while Dell was "pumping and dumping" with Intel kickbacks to keep the stock price artifically high, the following exec's sold thier stock:
Defendant Position Shares Sold Proceeds % of Shares
Michael Dell CB/CEO 85,138,000 $2,829,813,460 27%
Kevin Rollins President/CEO 2,163,000 $74,192,846 99%
Joseph Marengi SVP-Americas 1,543,664 $55,197,246 100%
John Medica SVP-Products 809,956 $31,315,764 99%
Rosendo Parra SVP-Americas 1,458,953 $51,266,953 88%
James Schneider CVP-CFO 1,686,000 $57,838,699 99%
William Amelio SVP-Asia 1,024,281 $40,067,747 93%
Jeffrey Clarke SVP-Products 963,815 $35,207,325 97%
Robert Davis CAO 196,556 $7,247,401 96%
John Hamlin SVP-Global Online 869,443 $31,336,831 99%
Thomas Green SVP-Law/Secretary 384,000 $12,453,120 70%
Glenn Neland SVP-Procurement 169,000 $6,675,330 98%
Martin Garvin SVP-Procurement 90,500 $3,666,680 100%
Randall Mott SVP-CIO 370,000 $14,769,800 74%
Michael Miles Director 1,428,000 $51,276,720 73%
Donald Carty Director-Audit Chair 564,150 $20,128,490 73%
TOTAL: 98,859,318 $3,322,454,411
The sell-off of $3.3+ billion in inflated stock – oftentimes over 90% of the insiders’ holdings – is the largest insider bail-out in the history of any U.S. public company.

Ex-Reg, don't forget to chime in, they did this while giving pathetic change for raises and have cut to the quick back on any and everything for the employees.
HotRod, very well said for those of us that MOD btw......
And IMO, this is in the wrong area, it has to do with policy, not loving buying dells..... _________________ Practice what you preach. |

I agree. To which forum should it be moved?
BTW, I don't have the authority to move posts out of this forum, so someone else will have to do it. |

It has to do with loving Dell, though not owning one or working there. The initial frame is so vapid it belongs on Myspace under 'what turns me on'.
I'd say leave as is. The good contributions seem to have found their way here without any difficulty. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

Actually, it needs to go in Dell's Ridiculous Policy area.
The title and content both attest to that. _________________ Practice what you preach. |

One of the nice policies is the Nontied policy.
If you purchase a dell monitor seperate from a dell system it gets a three year warranty with next business day replacement!
I haven't found a company yet that ships you the replacement then asks for the bad one back, let alone next5 business day. |

| Yes, but next business day never turns out to be next business day with the flat panels. With CRT's perhaps, but not with flat panels. In all my time and experience, the shortest wait for a replacement flat panel was 5 business days. |
