| It is not too hard to set up a web site. One of you more hateful folks should just do that, and make it good enough so everyone moves over there. Then folks can talk about IhateIhateDell.net and vote with our mouse. Owner seems to have a simiilar attitude as Dell itself,,, Hmmmmmm,,, I wonder.... anyway, maybe that attitude will improve when traffic drops off. Ok, who has the cajones to make it happen? |

There are a couple of practical constraints. One is that after this site became a thorn in Dell's butt, they bought up every domain they could think of that contained their name.
Another is the time and effort to regain lost inertia on Google. They go not only by content, but by currentness and how many clicks a site generates within Google itself. It could be quite some time before a new site became recognized to the point anyone could realistically be expected to find it.
And observationally, the public interface with almost any business person is going to leave you with pretty much the same impression, that they're just in it for themselves and don't care about anything else. That observation isn't always objectively fair or accurate. I think we, here, are all prejudiced against business by our exposure to Dell, if nothing else. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

Let's looks at the good points of this site.
1.) This site does not cost the visitors anything out of our pockets
2.) This site is widely known and trusted
3.) This is truly one of the only real forums to actually find acurate information involving upcoming changes at Dell.
If you wish to have a faster server donate to Rocke.
Also remember this site is working, it is just not running as fast as some people would like. It seems today everyone is really impatient. What is two-three extra minutes of time really going to hurt when loading a site. I think everyone in the world needs to slow down a little bit and not always be in a rush, starting with myself. |

As of 5-2, server performance has returned to nominal. That is, with a 6M local loop and 2M distance loop (standard cable modem), response is nearly instantaneous.
It doesn't get any better. Even within Dell's 10M LAN, server response was no better, and often worse.
'Course, those were Dell servers........... _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

Guess they did not buy everyone... dellsucks.org Dell owns - but not dellsucks.com - Now why would Dell want to own all the site names ? HA!

Most forums don't. I only pay for access to two forums and in both cases the fees are minimal.

Please put down that pipe ! I find it hard to believe that you don't know why nobody inside Dell attends these forums anymore.

The accuracy is astounding ! I've been checking in over the last six months for obvious reasons and haven't really seen a lot other than pure speculation.

What Rocke really needs is a good forum-ware other than the freebie this board is currently running on. VBulletin would be a good investment.

I have experienced any significant problems with the functionality of the board however I'm sitting in the same boat as most of the older Dell employees in that we're not going to regularly post to a forum which is owned by someone not known to be a Dell or ex-Dell employee. Also the admins on this forum now have no capability at all. The only good thing I've seen since mOT dumped the forum is that Grissom is no longer here. That in itself is a huge improvement given that he's such a Dell fanboy these days however it doesn't overcome the trust issue. |

What Rocke really needs is a farking job, since Dell and the entire US tech industry outsourced my 40+ year career to gawdam China at the behest of revisions in US tax code. I have looked into it. There are no recharging stations or internet access nodes when you live under a bridge.
I am currently--by default--the grand exaltant poobah of IHD. As cynical a conspiracy theorist as I am, I don't have any trepidation about current site ownership. He's just a schmuck trying to make a living, and doing better at it than I am. At least the electric company is not threatening to cut him off for delinquent payment.
Bane, FYI, I have the same capabiility within the PHP interface that the owner has. I am restrained however, by the fact that he owns the board and I do not. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

| Hey, the info presented on layoff has been true. Heck, I talk to my manager with these rumours, and they always say where you learn that?? The info presented here since I been on has always been at the mark. I use this board to find out whats going on. I thik that the Dell trolls know this as well. And I do know there is a section that monitors this site, and it does frustrate them. Because everything posted here does come true. W@hy want get rid of utility?? This board has always been on the mark. |

It may begin as "pure speculation" but 99% of the time, this same speculation is followed by fact.
Maybe reading more than 1 or 2 random posts would shed some light on that for you?
I too, while tenured at Dell, brought up "pure speculation" to my Manager at the time and was asked in a similar way where I got this info from. Then they said it was just heresay and rumor-mongering, which in the end turned out to be exactly what was posted as mere "speculation".
This site is THE place to come for the inside scoop on the dealings within Dell-topia. Good, bad and shady all the same. |

Dell is about as hard to figure out as a 6 year old denying he ate a box of candy from behind a mustache of chocolate. Whatever management announces is going to happen, the opposite is true.
I suspect that Dell employees are more afraid of the HR Gestapo than they are of this board when it comes to posting. Back when I was daydreaming about tech employment returning, I was very cautious here about identifying my Dell knowledge and activity in such a way that it could be associated with a person, even though they had laid me off 4 years earlier.
Like Stephen Stills said once, paranoia strikes deep. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

I have been checking this site since just after the 2001 layoffs and find that along with my other face to face people sources inside and outside of Dell, this site is 100% of the time right on the money... So what a manager calls or a skeptic of this site calls "pure speculation", I point out the historical record of the data or logs on this site. So when I am asked how and where I hear things, I never reveal my sources, but later those that ask wonder how my information is so accurate - I tell them, my sources are connected.
There are only a few people who post on this site that I trust that their comments will come true - so I agree there might be speculators out there... but the ones I listen too are accurate to timing of releases and sometime to the quantity of releases... So you as a reader have to gage or keep track of those that post... and then you will know the people who are "In The Know"....
Remember we are all in the same boat - or sinking ship... some may have already been released, while other remain to die a slow death - we are all against the way some companies treat their employees...
And - any news of release timings and locations for next week? Those of us still in the boat want to know _________________ Released in 2008! |
