I was hired with the knowledge that I had shoulder surgery weeks after training... Well, I had my surgery and was out about 1.5 months...
I returned and caught-up with no problem. Was getting payout and doing well, until one day a team L2 asked me to move a computer off my desk to another because he had a meeting to go to... Well, I did it but re-injured my shoulder.
I saw the "Dell Doctor" after days of calling in because I had to see my Doctor in another state (where I had the specialized surgery) first...
I have to admit I had missed a number of days, but I was never written up, nor what is it even discussed as an issue by anyone from Dell...
Well, during days off from calling-in, I left my manager messages on her voicemail to call me at home to discuss my options & that I would stop calling CCOD.
Days had gone by and I get a call from my manager asking me if I quit. I advised "no" and she claims to have never received my messages, that her voicemail had been having problems.
She advises she needs talk to HR and would call back. I end up talking to HR manager of Twin and was told I could return when my shoulder heals so I wouldn't miss work, and was encouraged that this was not a termination but an "agreement of seperation" per her, due to current physical limitations..
Well, I hear a training class opens up, I go to re-apply as directed by the HR manager had once told me - and guess what? One of the HR interviewers tells me I was terminated because of abandonment and am not eligible for re-hire. I advised her about my discussion with the HR manager before I left and she leaves and returns claiming that the class had just been filled.
Later that day, and the next, I find from employees that after I left, people that were interviewed after I had left that day were hired for the training class that I was told was full...
Wow, did I get get royally flushed by DELL.
I'm still considering if I should file a suit against Dell or not. But, the only thing holding me back is that I don't know if I want to work for them again... However, I don't want the bad recommendation based on them covering their assetts..
What do you all think??? |

Man that is typical....but I have to agree w/Gris, why put yourself out for a company that isn't going to give a sh%* about it's empoyees one way or the other. You might want to speak w/an attorney anyway, if for no other reason than to clear your good name. We all wish you the best! _________________ Love what I do, but not the company I do it for! |

I used to call in to the number on the floor as well as my supervisor in the cube.
I now email from home to have it in writing. _________________ Practice what you preach. |
