I didn't even know there was a rally coming up.

My money is just another "Please don't hate us but here are some more changes" gathering where Management pretends what they're saying is a good thing. Wouldn't doubt if it's just more business changes

Its always impossible to know. My theory is that its too much advance notice for it to be an announcement of site closure. They don't seem to like to give much lead up for that type of thing. Probably its going to take place after a new round of layoffs and will be the ra-ra "anyone left standing is now safe" type of crap they seem to love.

I've been noticing this past week people are still disappearing in ones and twos, my manager was let go, he was there and then suddenly he was gone with his stuff in a box. So it seems to me likely that the headcount reduction is not done yet by some margin. They probably want to get the place down to bare bones so that they don't have too much left to do for site closure, which someone suggested to me will happen in the next quarter.

Looks like it will be a push for Pro Support. Word is some guys are heading overseas to teach XPS, while we're due to move to Pro Support by the middle of March. I.E. We're all PT5.

As for my comment about site closure, it is too early to speculate on that, but the main reason i made that comment is because i just didn't want whinny rants about how we're all fucked. I wanted real info.

No whiny rants, but rest assured that to those that speculate this is too much warning for a site closure, we had plenty of advance warning about our All Hands meeting too before the axe came down hard and dull.

Speculation being what it is, they can't expect those in Ottawa to be completely retarded - can they?

Start filing resumes while you can. Until Ottawa becomes part of the US or some 3rd world country, it's still part of Canada where they are closing ALL centers. Count on that if not for anything else. Ottawa handled primarily consumer while Edmonton handled 100% corporate (Dell's bread and butter). If they closed Edmonton/corporate, who here thinks that Ottawa/consumer will be spared?

I really hope I get laid off..

I've heard rumours about 150 people being laid off and all of XPS converted into pro support.

I really want to be in the layoff group.

Rumors of us going to Pro Support? We were told flat out in the last rally that we will be pro support. Congratulations, you're DOC/XPS/Sales but with none of the commission and no extra pay.

And I wouldn't be surprised if we have more layoffs. Pasay is ramping up and I believe will be taking calls in about 3-4 weeks.

I think this Rally is just going to be more info about Pro Support, and information on when we're all being converted to it.

I also remember the site lead asking us if we were "in or out?"

And then he and Nicole promptly decided they were out by takingother positions in the company with Nicole getting the fuck out of Ottawa. lol.

I almost feel like grabbing my badge out of the drawer and taking the OC into the office today to see the carnage...despite having several months leave left. Just so I can watch a few people who deserve it being walked out....Please Please Please someone post here and let us know how bad it is......I need a good giggle today.....
