They are funny, I laughed a lot, however I find them totallly offensive, racist and wrong.
I'm not saying India is good, United States is bad. Good and bad people are everywhere, so do ignorants, stupids, and whatever you can imagine.
You see, a Dell customer once asked me if I was in a tent, wireless connected surrounded by wild animals, I still can't believe that. I asked him if he was being serious, I asked 2 or 3 times cause I really couldn't believe it.
A woman said right after I told her I'm in Argentina: "oh I thought this was an international call" I said nothing, from now on Argentina is in the States. Again, don't get me wrong, you guys don't need to know where Argentina is, but I think you should know your country
And I heard, I've experienced a lot from Indian people, Phillipine people, Argentinian people, Panamenian people, so I can tell you that both the customer and the Dell representative can suck big time. _________________ I see DELL people!!

No Racism / prejudice meant here by those files... although only the ignorant would think that all people from a certain location always talk or respond in manner alike... by that I mean it would be ignorant to think all people of a certain race / nation act or look all the same - I know different - I have lived on three continents and I know what it likes to be the minority - so no Racism / prejudice meant here on my part...
However, I have experienced that exact call... the individual happened to be from India Support for a DSL account that I had... During the troubleshooting of my issue, he asked what color the 4 lights on my modem were and I responded with, "All 4 lights are all green". To my surprise, after he said ok, he asked, "What color is light #1"... I said green, and when he went on asking, “What color light #2 was?" - I wanted to vent out my frustrations on him... Realizing that this was a script that he must follow, I humored him and just answered the questions. Midway through the call though he asked what my favorite food was... this reminded me of that first file...
It took me a long time to figure out why he asked this... recently I figured out it was a simple small talk technique used by tech/care phone reps... when looking up information as to not have dead air on the phone - tech/care phone reps ask questions, mostly related to the issue or something that may have been talked about prior during the call... but not a question out of the blue like - what my favorite food was..
I added that choice in the POLL of being offended because I wanted people to know exactly how their actions / words could affect others... and you saying that someone | Quote: | | asked me if I was in a tent | - is one of those actions / words in which we should be mindful of if we are truly moving to a global society... and I wanted those offended to be given the chance to express that in a poll.
Yes, I make fun of people... of all nationalities. I am not prejudice; I make fun of everybody... especially when a U.S. Citizen thinks Argentina is in the states - That would have been a good call to give to the Tonight Show for a Jay Walking segment... I even make fun of myself when I do or say something silly. Laughter, it makes facing daily struggles much easier... So I say, if you make fun of something I say or do or my accent, I won’t get mad or offended; I will just laugh with you... _________________ Released in 2008! |
