Unless you were selling 1000 systems, I can't see this being justified as competing with Dell in any way. That's the weakest excuse to let someone go.

Ah yes, their blackballing policy. They even invoke that against individual customers, from reports here. It must be a click-option on the support screen.

Dell is nothing but a retailer. They design, engineer, produce absolutely nothing. All they do is buy Chinese crap and sell it.

Name another retailer that has a one-click option to blackball customers. Satan himself could take a lesson from Dell.

After 15 years of service to Dell you are gone because you can be replaced by someone making 1/2 as much as you not because you sold a laptop or two. It is possible they are out on a hunt to reduce numbers that won't be included in their next round of layoffs. Mr. Dell said it himself quite some time ago that they will be saying bye-bye to 10% of the people over the next 12 months. If you recall that was quite a few months ago so will the end of the month layoff rumors come true?

Bingo. You hit the nail on the head. Happened in Dell Nashville a couple of months before the big layoff. IT scanned everyones computers and anyone found with having MP3's or video content that could even be remotely considered "illegal" got walked. I'm sure it was all in preparation for the big layoff. I mean, fire about 20-30 techs ahead of time and that can be a pretty penny saved w/o sacrificing much efficency of the dept.

That way, when one of the 20-30 techs file for unemployment, Dell's lawyers will argue that they were fired "for cause" and fight them tooth and nail to prevent them from getting even one dollar of the unemployment money that they deserve.

Bastards.

I am pissed since I just got put on an action plan today. Everyone is talking about Dell doing HUGE layoffs in the upcoming month(s) and everything is starting to be relocated into other countries.

Some people I know in Texas are saying these Call Centers are to due to be shut down soon, and I have to say Dell doesn't know the first thing about keeping it's own employees.

I am sorry that I work for this place since I see what happened to you people, and it makes me feel sick...

Hope you guys get some comfort knowing more will suffer the same fates.

(Also check out the Dell rumors section, there is some good speeches from Michael Dell that are leaked or something)

I can't speak for anyone else, but it saddens me when a company lets anyone go just to outsource their job(s) and save a few bucks on labour costs Sad.

I speak to customer's all day and some (No-it really is ALL) of them say they will no longer support this company due to the idea of saving a buck to outsource offshore... and then not to be able to understand the tech on the other line... (So I guess it is saddening our customers too)

But who is really to blame? - It is us, yes me included that in order to save a buck we try to find the cheapest product and in order to make these PCs and support these PCs cheaply - Dell has opted to go offshore for our support. Like Wal-Mart and their products coming from China... Dell has opted to go offshore... we are just following suit or maybe leading the way of the consumerable products... yes I shop at Wal-Mart because I am paid by a corporate American company that keeps my wages just below poverty level for my size family... Indentured Servatude - the only difference now is I am told or made to feel like I am free where in turn we are slaves to consumerizm...

Sorry about the rant but... I feel that within two weeks I will be on PIP due to the fact that I am not reaching the unatainable numbers and the fact that management makes you meet a certain criteria before something counts for your quota - if all the rumors are true... then I know my future at this company.

When I got fired, I was on a PIP for about... oh, a few weeks. I know it sounds absurd, but I was later than usual on Kronos from time to time. Anyways, I got written warnings and our site was already suffering. I think if Dell didn't ruin itself by lieing to itself, but tell itself to treat customers the right way at all costs- it would be more successful.

I got to go, but just remember that the karma isn't worth it.
