Walked into Dell this morning and was ushered into a meeting where they told us that due to reorganization- that XPS Nashville is redundant and that effective today our employment was terminated. This represents about 120+ technicians.

Yep we got the shitcan too.

I think PM was the first one to go... thats when i knew things were getting really bad and I was probably not going to survive.

Its good and bad, I got one hell of a severance package and several leads on new jobs already.

I went to the party at Baliey's last night, that was a total blast. From what I understand there is another party tomorrow night at another L2's house. I think I am gonna go, I hear that dude's parties are wild as hell. I got no job so why not go?

Yes, that former L2 throws a party like none other you have ever experienced. Plan on NOT driving home afterwards. My recommendation is wear something comfortable and take a change of clothing in your trunk incase your clothing gets messed up, spilled on, etc.

For those of you that work in the XPS Business Queue in Nashville, I figured I would let in on something your calls and your job got taken up by an Outsource company in Phoenix, AZ called E-telecare. They were going to lose the XPS contract to SLC which is actually Teleperformance which pay there techs 12.50 and hour as a top pay. E-etelecare Phoenix got the business contract because there were the best at everything and Dell could not turn down a good deal with an outsourcer that also handles DELL ACS call in the Philippines. The avg pay for a tech working at E-telecare Phoenix is 15 dollars an hour and you start as an L2 taking calls. so the 250 that got cut 150 agents in Phoenix are taking those calls an they are going to be hiring more as tell has told them to staff 400 agents for the queue. So the whole thing about Dell losing money bad is hogwash, considering they just signed a contract with E-telecare to support XPS business. Good luck to all of you in Nashville I use to work for Dell in Twin Falls, ID. i am glad that i got out of there.

So, were we redundant or did we just cost too much?

the queue in phoenix was supporting both consumer and business xps, and then they lost the contract to Teleperfomance in Salt Lake City, UT so being that Etelecare is a Dell client an has offices in the Philippines that supports ACS now CBG they had pull and got into talks about splitting the queue and making them xps business support with the option to support consumer and nothing else cause previously they were a HIP queue where they whould support Insp, Lat, Opti, Dim and XPS, unless it had a Gold or Plantium contract. they were instructed to take the call log the case and then transfer the customer, well with this new contract they only take xps calls an nothing else. So i would say because you guys were more expensive being that none of the techs that work for etelecare ever get raises of any kind. Unlike at dell where every 3-6 months you get something.

Dell stock on the day that the 250 of us were walked (10/09) - $28.00 Dell stock as of close today (12/13) - $23.60. That's a 16% drop in just over two months. Dell is on a downward slide with no end in sight. Serves them right!

Dell Edmonton is gone by early May. They announced it today then laid a bunch of us off. I'm so glad I stayed an extra two weeks, now they're paying me to leave

I was part of that layoff in Nashville as I used to work in XPS for Dell, Now i work for Qualxserv and reading some of the frustrations that some of the onsite techs have I feel your pain right now my problem is the opposite heavy call load and everybody wants it done 5 minutes ago and its only me, yeah our region might have 6 techs down from 12 when i first started, alot of what i read about the treatment surprises me and yet doesnt surprise me, I was quite pissed to be laid off with no warning I was called in on my day off to be terminated. Good Ole Dell.....
