So, at the account, we needed another Optiplex desktop fixed.

Would show "System shut down due to thermal event, F1 to continue"

Hitting F1 would then shut the computer down. Turning on again shows the same error.

Our Gold Service Support person sent someone out to fix it.

I wasn't at that account when he showed up, but the Office Admin said the tech walked in, took the computer and plugged it in at her desk (just into the wall), saw the green light, said "it works", then left. All within 10 minutes.

Of course, I get there, now the computer doesn't even turn on.

Now we hear how great Dell 2.0 is doing, getting profits, and now selling at retailers.

What a joke.... we're not fooled.

Dell is burning a lot of fuel getting the improvements it has been getting credit for lately. Rest assured, they are all completely out of the true nature of the company and once people realize it's just a marketing campaign with nothing new to back it, the updraft will turn into a quick wind shear.

Walmart is notorious for buying low end electronics (computers/tv/gadgets) and selling at the Walmart prices. What does that say about Dell. Rolling Eyes It reallly just confirms what I have learned about how Dell works and what they want to do. They put as many systems out there as they can, built by some other country (cheap labor Wink ), built to work for a short time (until the warranty runs out) and sell to the unsuspecting American who don't know they are getting a computer made from refurbished/defective/outdated parts. All they know is they are getting a Dell for a low price. Dell used to mean quality not quantity now its quantity NOT QUALITY. Good luck to you Walmart Dell owners, you get what you pay for. I'm sure the warranty included has extra fine print as to NO support included, not even India support.

Wal-mart buyers get a standard one year, next day in house warranty support 24/7.

I guess you also think HP computers are garbage since Wal-mart sells those too. I guess you feel Toshiba laptops are garbage also since Wal-mart sells those.

I posted to this site telling everyone what I thought of Dell and the issues that I have had. HP and Toshiba are not a topic of discussion in my posts. I'm also speaking for those that can't voice opinions. I have had conversations with long time Walmart employees (in depth) that have told me all the in's and out's of their electronics department so for Dell to be selling at their store you know it has to be a low end product. Plus, what good is the warranty when those of us that purchased from Dell directly can't get the smallest issuse resolved. They will get the same treatment. I'm sorry if my post touched a nerve, you must either work for Walmart (then you should know what I'm saying) or your on the other side of the fence regarding Dell. Whatever the case, I'm not here to start something ugly, just state my opinion like so many others. Wink

Dell is just trying to do what their competition is doing. Their competition sells in all kind of stores, Best Buy, COMP USA, Circuit City..... On and on. Dell is just trying to regain the market share that they're losing little by little.

From what I noticed the stores never sell the manufactures high end systems. If you want a high end system from HP or Toshiba, you have to go to their website.

I have no problem with Dell selling at Walmart or Target or anywhere else. If HP can do it, why not Dell. That's what makes America, America.

The issue at this website is Dell's pathetic customer service & pathetic treatment of employees. That is why they're losing market share 'cause they have forgotten how to treat they're customers and employees.

If Dell had the world's greatest customer service and best employee relations, a bad laptop here and there will still come off the assembly line. The difference there would be that Dell would do a much better job in resolving it and not let it go on for months and months.

Are you people telling me that ATI,nVidia, Intel, Western Digital, Seagate, and Creative send Dell all their bad parts and send their good parts to HP and Toshiba. I don't think so. HP and Toshiba probably do a better job making their customers happy when they tell HP that their system is broke. That's where Dell is messing up. They don't know how to treat customers and their employees.

Anyway, how did this post get on Walmart in the first place. I don't know what Dell 2.0 is. Maybe that's some kind of stock market talk. But you didn't nearly have a thermal meltdown of your own when your assistant told you about what the Tech did! Dell probably would look at this as not being their fault but it is 'cause they hired the lazy bastards.

This Tech should've at least powered up the system, let it run for awhile and see if he could duplicate the problem. He was just concerned about the next call. Trying to clear his list so he could either get a "at-a-boy" from his boss or cut out from work early.

But this is Dell's fault 'cause the contractors they hire to go out and fix they're broke systems are also representing them. I don't care if the side of the van says, "Joe Schmoe's Tech Support". It might as well say Dell on the side of it as far as Dell is concerned. That's why I don't get the at home Tech Support 'cause they're lazy, unprofessional, and don't know what they're doing have the time. I can fix a computer better then they can.
