The rumor is sales are off enough that it is impacting both revenue and earnings numbers. In particular, laptop sales have ratcheted down and that is one of the higher margin platforms that Dell sells.
Has anybody internally seen stuff that is consistent with this rumor? |

Consumer sales is getting crushed on the run rate. One site had NO ONE hitting goal. |

| At my DOC site, ever since DOC tech support merged with DOC sales, we have never been able to meet Dell's required close rate metric...I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing that customers no longer want to buy from Dell. |

Dell's across-the-board stinginess and disingenuousity has managed to offend just about everybody, from their biggest clients to their smallest.
I had the ignominious distinction of working for another company that did that. They went out of business a year after I walked out in disgust. They offended their employees too, just the way Dell does. It's a pattern.
The religious folks call it 'the end time'. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

|
| Does anyone know anything about the rumored restructuring of ESG? Rumors seem to be flying everywhere and one could guess it is related to another bad quarter. Makes you wonder if "reorg" really means layoffs? |

It used to be that DELL and HPQ announced quarterly results within days of each other. It has always been that way. But all of a sudden that is no longer the case.
Dell has been disappointing Wall Street quarter after quarter. So rather than announce on the heels of HPQ, what do they do??? They post pone the 'Preliminary Earnings Statement' by several weeks.
I guess it is embarrassing when HPQ is saying "No problem here... We gobbled up somebody's market share!" It is hard to announce a few days later "There seems to be an industry wide slowdown. Our sales are way off. And of course, our earnings suck too."
So big surprise... Besides no longer daring to give forward guidance, they don't want to give signed of 10-K's or even announce on the heels of HPQ.
I'm thinking this earnings announcement is going to be funny! |
