DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF THERE ARE ISSUE WITH THE 1390 CARD. WHEN MY COMPUTER COMES OUT OF SCREEN SAVER I CAN NOT CONNECT. HAD 4 DELL "TECHS" DO REMOTE FIXES BUT THEY ONLY SCREWED UP MY COMPUTER MORE
ALSO THEY SAID THAT MY WARRANTY IS CANCELLED, WHICH IT IS NOT

What type of computer is it? (Besides it being a Dell). Under no circumstances should you let any of those fools take control of your computer and try to fix things. Only a friend that is highly knowledgeable do that kind of thing. Also, what kind of Screen Saver is running? Regardless, no screen saver should deactivate your NIC (Network Interface Card). There maybe a setting that you are unaware of. I know my XPS automatically deactivates my NIC when it's on battery (well it use to before I disabled that) but at least it would tell me and my XPS is a laptop. I'm assuming you're talking about a notebook. Look in Control Panel to see if there are any settings that may make your screen saver disable your NIC. You should also be able to go into Network Connections and click on Enable for time being on your 1390 to start your network connections again. Is there anymore you can tell us about your computer?

IT IS A INSPIRON 6400, AND I HAVE CHANGED EVERY SETTING THAT CAN THINK OF. NOW DELL IS SENDING ME A NEW HARD DRIVE, THEIR THINKING THAT MIGHT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS ALL STARTED WHEN I DOWNLOADED AN " URGENT " DRIVER UPDATE FOR THE CARD. ALSO I'M TRYING AND HOPEFUL I WILL BE GETTING A TOTAL REPLACEMENT COMPUTER Twisted Evil Rolling Eyes

If they were competent Techs (And we all know by now that most of Dell's techs are incompetent, especially if you are dealing with India) they should of made you go back to your old driver. Or have YOU put the computer in "Safe Mode" and remove the driver.

I don't know if the HDD is problem with a NIC disabling it self. Especially if you got this diagnosis from one of the India techs.

I would continue to work the system to get the 'puter replaced. From what I read from other post, most likely the new 'puter will be a refurbished one. Unless you scream louder for a new one and you have to scream pretty loud.

Your issue may look as if it is very unique but I think the resolution may not be very difficult. It does not require any hard drive replacement let alone a new system. What I'd like to check are the card settings and the power settings on your system. You may want to also uninstall Dell Quickset from your system as it alters the default power settings. On the other hand if you are trying to connect to a Westell A90 327W modem/router, you need to patch the router (contact Verizon or call Dell). Most of the 1390 cards are shipped with Vista and we do not have Vista drivers, so you are probably running on XP. More info is needed to resolve your issue. Please call Dell Tech support, ask to be transferred to the Wireless queue. Keep calling until you get a tech who resolves the issue. Dell India has some of the best Techs in the world, unfortunately no one cares about them, and they eventualy leave.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS; WHEN MY COMPUTER IS IDLE I LOSE MY CONNECTION (IE7) SO I HAVE TO RESTART AND THAT FIXES THE PROBLEM. AS THE DELL " TECHS" THEY DID 5 REMOTE ACCESS & EACH TIME THEY SCREWED UP MY COMPUTER.
NO ONE AT DELL CAN TELL ME WHY THIS IS HAPPENING, ALSO IT DOES IT AT OTHER LOCITIONS OTHER THAN MY OWN.
SO, NOW I'M LOOKING TO FIND SOMEONE WHO IS WILLING TO TRADE ME THIS DELL FOR A MAC.

IF THERE IS ANY BODY WHO CAN HELP WITH THIS ISSUE, PLEASE DO SO, THANX A HEAD OF TIME Exclamation Cool

Winkey.. could you please stop typing in all caps? It hurts some of our sensitive eyes.. makes it look like you're shouting all the time. Wink

As far as your issues, it sounds to me like your power settings may be off. I dont know enough about vista, but i know in XP you can set timers to turn off the LCD and the harddrive, and put the laptop to sleep at differing intervals. You may want to try and find those settings, and disable shutting off the harddrive completely (no real reason to, and it'll disconnect things while you're online if it shuts off).

In XP, those are found by right clicking on the desktop, clicking properties, then the Screen Saver tab. There should be a "Power.." button at the bottom of that window. Click that, and check the power settings there, make sure the harddrive is set to "never".

Wink sorry for the caps but when i think of this whole ordeal with dell it just gets me pissed off Evil or Very Mad

my saga into the depths of dell hell started when I called for a replacement of a wrong laptop they sent me; it was all down hill from there. I really wish someone at Dell would have told me that by taking my mothers credit card off my account was going to VOID my warranty, I would not have done that............to be cont Wink

First uninstall Dell Quickset and then we will proceed with troubleshooting if it is not yet resolved. Don't tell me that techs cannot resolve your issue. Call the tech support number and ask to be transferred to the Wireless department. If your issue is still unresolved, let me know your case number.

I did call the wireless "techs", but they told me to talk to the other "techs", they told me to talk to customer support Rolling Eyes I still have the same problem when my computer is idle I lose internet, BUT the utlity(1390dell) says i'm connected. The only thing all the "techs" told me is to do a PC restore Any help would be great Rolling Eyes Confused

This is an easy fix and shouldn't need a new laptop or a PC restore. I know you're frustrated and if you sent Dell a heated e-mail basically tellling them to get off of their fat a#$ and fix your 'puter you be in the wrong. Plus, they'll probably won't fix the thing.

First, if you haven't already, give Wireless your case number. Sounds like to me he works for Dell and is trying to get you some help.

Second, check your power management options. Something in XP or Vista (and if you have Vista, God help you and don't blame Dell for that, blame their best friend Microsoft). Something in XP or Vista has a setting check that disables that. Go over your settings with a fine tooth comb. Then have a friend do it. Then drink a shot of Hennessy and do it again. Okay maybe you want to scratch that last one. Surprised

But when I got my XPS, it was doing all kind of stuff I didn't want it too. And stuff I did want it to do but wasn't. I had to go knee deep into the settings to turn off or on all kind of stuff until my XPS was actually my XPS and not Dell's but I have a computer background and it sounds like you're a newbie. Ask friend or see if a friend has a friend that has a computer background and see if they can look at all your settings for you(they may want to check BIOS too). I bet they find something and you'll both laugh and drink a shot of Hennessy to the whole thing.

Actually a shot of Hennessy sounds good right now.

This is going out Wireless I don't remember the case #, but my customer# is 66013960. According to DELL my warranty is invaild,so that is why they won't help. But all I did was take my mothers credit card information off my account. NOBODY at DELL told me that doing so would void the warranty.

actually there is an issue with a 1390 wireless card,sometimes by default its really defective,you can ask for a replacement,they should replace it with a diff card.
