I think you should read this; It came from the DELLFORUM.

Andrew_Durrett@Dell.com said something like this:::

This is Andrew Durrett with the online community outreach team. We are most commonly known as the external blog team and we are the first proactive initiative from any corporation to find our customers in need online and reach out to help them. In the process of scanning for those in need, we find Dell employees who are putting out their own two cents and we terminate those relationships. Like us, they care about Dell and want to participate in the conversation and speak up in defense of our company. Unlike us, they may share or even contradict internal company policies which are confidential. they may also communicate inappropiately and seriously damage relationships with the public we are seeking to repair. I am definitely not saying Dell employees should not be allowed to blog. But we must first grant permission and have our legal team approve every blog post. We need to be safe and prudent about what we say and do online. I hope all who read this blog will chime in and talk candidly about their experiences in posting about Dell on external blogs. This is your chance to share with us the information you have provided the public so we can determine your status. I also challenge all of you to read our company policies about online dialogue and comment here on how you feel about those policies. I look forward to the discussion.

Thanks, DFMOD. I think. It certainly has elements of Dell internal communications.

But that they would ask for confessions "so we can determine your status" stretches my suspension of disbelief. And Dell Legal would not approve ANY blogging of company affairs, it's absurd to even imply they might.

With something this potentially inflammatory, and semi-quoted from a public source (blog), a link would be nice so readers could verify it to their own satisfaction.

Dell internal com... u mean Dell Gestapo being the mind police with your name written on corporate re-education camp cell. Smile

Besides, this schiest is never gonna work, if they acts as filter to all external blogs, their legal team is gonna be completely swamped and nothing will get out (except the propaganda good stuff).

To be honest, if someone does step forward to Dell Gestapo and gets ratted out, then they deserve it for placing such blind allegiance and unadulterated trust.

I don't think anyone is dumb enough to admit they post about Dell (in a negative way)...I am referring to the employees, of course...But what about employees who also own Dells?

As Bugs Bunney might say, "What a marooooon". Those relationships were damaged by Dell, continue to be assaulted by Dell and thier employees that attempt to solve the problem without a clue as to what they are doing, and finally by Executives who dont care.
As for clearing any blog post I would make through Dell legal...I would love to know what he is smoking so I can buy some. ( Is it legal?)
Dell doesnt want people who know; 1) What they are doing (customer service jobs); 2) people who know what Dell is doing to customers;
to post anything anywhere. In Dells case, customer ignorance is money in the bank.

I agree with all of you but this is the statement that had me Question Question Question

"I am definitely not saying Dell employees should not be allowed to blog. But we must first grant permission and have our legal team approve every blog post."

I believe the Constitution's "Freedom of Speech" takes presidence?? Shocked

In Dell's world, there is no "Freedom of Speech"...

Andrew, was your post cleared by Dell legal and were you given permission to post? No one needs permission to state an opinion. If I don't post from from work (what idiot would?), or post proprietary information, I don't need your permission to post my opinions, observations, or ideas.
But you are more than welcome to come kiss my A**.
