Has anyone been relocated with Dell and gone though a nightmare?
Please post your experiance...
My family and I relocated and Dell's relocation company said they could sell my house for me. If they didn't they would purchase the house from me at a fair market price. The offered me an equity advance on the house based on the initial estimated house sale price and sent my family and I on my way. When they couldn't sell the house they came back with an offer for my house that was approx. $80,000 less than their original market price. Then they demanded that I pay the equity advance back before they would purchase my house. I had already sunk the advance into my new house and it was unretrieveable. They dropped me from their relocation program and I've had to pay 2 mortgages and householed expenses for 9 months with no further assistance from Dell.
On top of this the realtor that they gave me to sell the house was so incompetant that my power was out for 7 weeks and she didn't notice, despite telling me that she was checking on the house regularly. The house was shown many times while the power was out and, of course, no one was interested in buying it... Dell's response was that this was not their fault and they beared no responsibility for the house not being sold by their appointed realtor.
Dell's response to my complaints is basically that it is my fault for relocating and that all of the risk for doing so falls on me and my family. From my point of view, the only thing I'm guilty of is trusting that my employer would treat me and my family in a fair and respectful way. I was soooo wrong...
If anyone has experienced anything like this please let me know so I don't feel like I'm the only one getting screwed out here..
Thank you.. |

DAMN!!! Can't this company do anything right when it comes to working with employees? They screw sales people with ever changing goals; screw tech support with metric based goals that are laughable and unrealalistic, they screw customers by moving most of support "off shore" and now they can even move employess without screwing them over.
As Don King would say" " ONLY IN AMERICA!!!!!!!!!" _________________ rustyboots (i use to slave at dell) |

Go, Rusty!
Dell's policy, across-the-board, is "our lawyers have thought of more dodges than you ever thought possible".
It's Michael's legacy. He wasn't raised an engineer or a businessman. He was raised a lawyer. Dad was a hotshot attorney in Houston. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But just so you know who you're up against. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

Bill Gates dad is an attorney too. Much be something in the water, these two offspring of attorneys have done one hell of a job in the last 20-25 years. I just wish the hell I knew what the damn job was!!!!
There was a quote once that read something like "after the revolution, shoot all the dogs and lawyers". I wouldn't waste bullets on dogs, save all the bullets for the lawyers.
(Sorry, I guess this will now turn into a lawyer joke post!!)
Seriously, can't this company do anything right/fair for its employess and/or customers? I was in the Army and I tell you a move on thier part can be a NIGHTMARE. But in the end they would come through for you and take care of things that messed up. It might take a while, but they would eventually take care of problems.
With Dell it looks like when all is said and done, they stick it to you in the END!! _________________ rustyboots (i use to slave at dell) |

| You do have some recourse. The listing agent was responsible for the mess and you can take action against that agent. Contact the agents broker and file a complaint. If that fails to bring satisfaction, file a complaint with the appropriate state licensing agency. |
