It has nothing to do with my smarts. It has everything to do with my work ethic. I understand that if I put in 8 hours a day, my commissions won't be shit. I have a bachelors degree, I could get a noncommissioned job, but those are for check collectors.

LOL.....you have a bachelors degree and your doing sales at Dell? Let me guess in something useless like communications? A person with a G.E.D. can come in and do the same job that you are doing, get promoted above you, and earn more money. How does that make you feel? Your taking 4 years of your life and the money you invested in yourself and throwing it out the window.

If you like it at Dell well then good luck, myself wanted something better for myself and got out of there.

You're joking, right? I didn't know it was a bad move to get a bachelors degree and end up making $$$$ in sales. Do you realize that good sales reps can make six figures? Who cares if someone with a G.E.D. gets promoted. I'm not too proud to let it bother me. Don't dismiss the fact that they might be very skilled.
And no, I did not throw time and money out the window by going to college. Believe it or not, going to college can be beneficial in a sales career. Maybe it's a business degree that helps you close a $2M deal because you better understand the economic factors affecting the CFO on the other side of the table. Or maybe it's the communications degree that comes in handy when you are selling to the media outlets.

So bring on your comments and generalizations about back-stabbing, ignorant, @#$@, sales reps. The fact is, you'll find these people in all types of roles; be it sales, tech support, customer care, manufacturing etc... Almost all of the sales reps I know are very ethical and customer focused. As with anything, it's the few bad apples that get all the attention.

One more thing. So much complaining. All you disgruntled, negative employees only make matters worse. You complain about everyone else but don't stop to think about the impact you are having. Every time you get ticked-off at Dell and take it out on a customer, you only hurt yourself. If you don't like your job, that's your own business; don't drag everyone else down with you.

Hmm... So a lot of really successful people wrote books... and these books have a common theme.
You ever think there might be a reason for that?
I bet you are a bright person but I'm going to give more credence to the advice of a CEO.

I sure hope you don't still work at Dell. Your negativity is just a burden and dead weight on everyone else.

Be sure you choose a plan that covers substance abuse and other stress related mental problems.

Although Dell pays a lot more than Wal-Mart, they are both similar: Lousy Customer Service.

You left off below sub-par quality products, incompetent management (only on good days; use your imagination for the bad days), extremely questionable business practices and ethics & morals that are considered a really bad joke.

Jade, you're painting in very broad strokes. There were only solid, productive attitudes in my group. Especially our manager, who was in the top-two I'd ever worked for. We all got the same perp-walk.

Attitudes don't make Dell bad, Dell makes attitudes bad by negatively rewarding genuine good, productive attitudes.

Overall, the way to prosper at Dell is learn to look good in brown lipstick.

All the above are cause for termination.

In other words, if you make an attempt to prove your case using anything but your own eyewitness testimony, they have cause.

Same in any large company - check the clause in your contract of employment.
Nothing however prohibits submitting proof collected by oneself at the time of giving testimony - no proprietary/sensitive information has left the company's domain...

Seeing all the gripes makes me glad to have a job I actually enjoy doing on a daily basis! Nice thing about being in the field - no two days are the same...
Must say, I'm extremely happy to be doing repairs and installations on behalf of Dell. Seems in some countries the service could improve tho...

Far as I'm concerned, the company doesn't own my name, they merely rent my time. If the email is addressed to ME, whether employee or not, then it is as much my property as it is Dell's. And I would challenge that to the highest lawmaker in the country.

They may rent your time, but they own all the equipment and data stored on said equipment, and thusly have the right to do with it as they please, including locking it down so nobody can get it.

Haha... quite funny, to loggin here just to bitch about them.
I'm a former technician, quited because the had me apply for 8 different positions, all assumed by different managers that I will make it. And guess what. I never made it to get the positions. I was always S.O.L.

The last time, I applied along with other 59 people, for 2 Quality Coaches avail. positions, we did inteviews w/coaches. I ended up with other 12 persons and reached a second round of interview w/L2's. I moved forward to a last interview with managers and at the end we were only 3 persons that made it. 66% of change of getting a promotion. Quite high uh!? But DELL made the greatest move ever. The 3 of us were told that since there was going to be an arrangement within the L2's the were going to relocate 2 L2's to fill up the positions and none of us were needed for that. We should go back to the phones plugged to the MATRIX.

I had my quit letter in my drawer and pulled it out right away, 'cuz I was prepared for that shit, I had everything fixed up, a new job with the same salary and my quit letter, just wating for the desicion of either the promotion OR the new job. But not to the phone again. F.U.Mike!

Right now after 1 and 4 months year since I quit DELL, I am making double the money and not plugged to a phone.

I do not hate DELL's products, some are good some does not, as any other brand.

But DELL is NOT a great place to work. It is a great place to get fucked and gangbanged by all managers that makes you believe that you will make a professional career, making you fill out forms and inputing data from you previous jobs and experience, making you get trainings and thinking that the more you train the faster you'll get promoted.

But sorry NO, that is not the reallity, what they are doing is to SQUEEZE all the avail. knowledge, time, effort, energy from you. For their pockets, not even the customer, ONLY for their metrics.

Managers ONLY care about their metrics so they do not get kicked out or fired.

Area Managers worry ONLY about metrics and makes lower managers worry about that as well, so they whip the horses to pull the car faster and faster.

They dont care if the horse wants to drink water or eat something, or if the horse wants to become the driver, they dont give a damn, they are already drivers and keep whipin the horses.

Answer calls, bitches!!!
Faster,
smile,
troubleshoot,
do not send parts,
make the customer disarm the f*cking computer and it doesnt matter if the customer is a wuz with anything that has buttons.

Thank U for choosing HELL...!!!

Very Happy LOL Very Happy
Welcome to the world of management... 'Been working under different managers/area managers/regional managers myself and I've even occupied a managers chair for 12 years - metrics, targets, call it whatever you want - it has to be attained by all means - meaning that the real people doing the work has to be crapped upon and kicked in the butt every minute of the day to keep the top brass in their cushy seats!

Thankfully left that occupation for the better - making better bucks, and knocking managers for not doing what they're supposed to do - keeping customers satisfied.
When my customer is not happy, I make it my business to find out who the responsible top managers are and get them kicked around for poor planning... Twisted Evil
It works like a charm if you supply their bosses with proof that they're just keeping their jobs at the cost of poor customer service!

And no, I'm not working for Dell directly, just another ACSC with plenty of very happy clients and proud of it!

---> I love NOT Working for Dell <---

That's awesome. Putting people where they belong to.

Right now I am working with a distributor of Dell's arch-enemy (HP), and I am getting better things that will be worth for my personal and professional grow. Arrow Laughing
I was a DCSE before.
Now I might be get HP certification.
Jajajaja... in the end that´s the only positive thing that I got from Dell.
Thanks Mike, I can steal some nickles from ya!
