Can I get some reasoned feedback about this situation? I am graduating this semester with a BBA in Managament, is there a rational reason to go into a sales position at Dell?

Thanks!

If you've read any of the threads in this forum, then you know that the obvious answer is NO!

Dell loves hiring recent college graduates because noone else will put up with their sociopathic management and abuse of employees.

Recent college grads are a cheap labor pool.

They replace expensive, experienced old-timers within a corporation...

Dell was my first job out of college. While it was good to get a decent paying job right out of school, I learned some dark things about how some corporations work, and also how higher-ups treat employees. Don't get me started on Spherion.

Read anything about this site & your answer is "NO" don't work for DELL for any reason or any price. They will just lie about how much you will make and those promised promotions...Forget it . Read any of my replys &/or coments. Save your breath and delete the message on you answer machine. Don't even give them the pleasure of turning them down. I over 40 years of employment Dell was the "WORST" job I ever had & this includes ditch digging, pipeline, installing windows in a highrise building, etc,etc.... When you hear Dell you think WOW -Big company, benfits, great career.... its all Bullshit.. Don't waste your time not even on an interview.....
Seriously take your education & experience to a company that will appreciate you. ( & also pay you what they promised to pay).
Later, Jimizs

The only rational reason to take any position at Dell is if you have absolutly no other options, are down to your last dollar, being evicted, your kids are sick, and you are comfortable with knowing your employment will be a living hell. Be advised however that your employment will last anywhere from 6 months to a few years. From my observations, less than 5% make it past 5 years in any position at Dell. If you have any of the following, your employment time may vary. [ethics, opinions, health problems, disabilities, web blogs, mention unions or lawsuits, complain about anything to anyone, or appear in any way to be smarter than your manager] Seriously, do yourself a favor and go to work for a normal healthy company.

If you are interested in making a third of what any other company would pay you, then by all means go to work for Dell.

Freak Power,
By now you've either taken the Dell offer or another companies offer but still i must provide a little advice.
All Fortune 2000 companies are belittled with incompetance, good ole boy/girl networks, peter principles, and graff. Hell most of the country is..

I remember taking my first sales job, no training, no computer, nothings. They wouldn't even tell us how much the service cost..just a "If you get a buyer, call us." Can you imagine how that ended?

Again, to repeat, you will run into this "Dell Hell" situation everywhere. Its a pandemic.

My advice, start your own business, grow it to a cool $500K+ a year and sit back while all the rats run the race.

always MM,

Never Settle
