I think it is time Dell should go back to the good old days...
Yes folks, this is a Dell that was made in the good ol' USA! And yes, it STILL WORKS!! Can't say that about all dells made these days... _________________ Money is the root of all evil. It used to be that companies actually cared about their customers and their satisfaction with the product. Support was also better- there were folks that spoke the same language that also cared.
If it weren't for greed, perhaps things would be much better in the world (including outside computers)! |

| Don't some of the portables still say "Made in the USA" on them ? I know that Dell won a lawsuit that enabled them to claim that the flashing of the BIOS and installation of a programmed drive made "significant improvement" to the system and thereby "Made in the USA". |

Dell can improve in one simple way:
By going back to using standard PSU's, and improving their customer support!
If they did that, i'd go back to them tomorrow!
Enough said! _________________ Regards,

On the Dimension e510 and on the Dimension 4700 and [probably] on the computers in between, Dell uses a standard power supply in the computer. I think they did this so that they could just use the standard Intel mobo design without an modification. _________________ "The art of Engineering is knowing what you can safely ignore." -Dr. H. The power supply is a standard one. How is it not? _________________

Dell used to have a proprietary wiring scheme or plud to prevent users from using a non-modified standard PSU in the Dell system. They stopped doing that, thankfully, as I was able to just drop in my new power supply. _________________ "The art of Engineering is knowing what you can safely ignore." -Dr. H. Hess
