I read somewhere that Dell LCD monitors are pretty good (and no, not from a Dell website, from some review somewhere). Is this true? Since most LCD monitors don't vary much except the brand, I wondered if Dell's were a bit better than the rest (e.g. Acer, Sony).

Dell doesn't build anything. CRT monitors are made by Viewsonic, no clue about LCDs

Dells LCD's tend to be pretty decent quality for the price, especially if you get them when they're clearing out "last year's" product to make way for "this years". Dell can afford to buy half a million LCDs from the manufacturer, so they get a HUGE volume discount, which is why they can afford to mark them down some.

Dell doesn't actually build anything like that. They simply re-brand existing company's material. Samsung, Hitachi, BENQ, Sony and so on.

You're not liking DELL monitors, you're liking RE-BRANDED names such as the ones above.
