I will provide a link to tell the whole story:

http://dgrove.blogspot.com/2006/08/dell-looniness-continues.html

That's my blog, and I've written a couple different Dell-related posts there at this point. That will link you to the latest. A summary of what has happened with this 5-month old Dell:

- 2 hard drives gone bad
- 1 fan gone bad
- Fairly new printer hooked to it died
- USB ports work when they want

I can't prove the printer died because of the Dell, but it certainly seems that anything connected to it is prone to destruction, so I'm not ruling it out. They won't give us money back or replace the whole machine because they have a 21 day policy. Their parts replacers only replace parts; they don't know anything about the computer and can't look at it to see what else might be wrong. They demand you send back the old hard drive within 10 days... meaning I have 10 days to find someone who can extract the lost data, move it to the new drive, and ship it back to Dell... or I pay for a new drive. I'm also shocked to know it's all refurbished.

I've gotten a few Dell computers, and I've loved them. But after this last one, I've lost all faith in them. God bless IhateDell.com!

Yes, it can be a stressful time when the system goes down. What you need to do is snail mail the BBB and the State Attorney. You also should create an email that explains everything that has gone wrong with your system. You will need to e-mail Dell Inc.

This e-mail needs to be detailed and correct. If you fail to list every problem and attempt to slove it, Dell will ingnore it. Get a list of all the "High Level" emails (@Dell.com) and then do a mass email. This will get someone to repond. TRUST ME!!!!!

Good Luck

Glad to hear i have company.... New laptop system as of late June...problems from day 1..went their route, had mother board repalced, sent back to Dell, and still the unit does not function..not too mention numerous calls to DELL.. I am now being told too much time has passed and they cannot replace my unit NEW.. i am only entiltled to a remanufactured system...EXCUSE me you pay over $1500 and get used......and interestingly there is not a thing they claim they can do... no wonder they are losing market share...oh yeah , my unit has the defective battery as well.... we have been LOYAL DELL customers for years have had at least 3 computers and Now i am seriously looking elsewhere. I have contacted corporate dell but not optimistic based on the treatment so far... at this time I would look elsewhere for a laptop!!
