So you Dell Flacks are telling me that I need MORE than the Model number? Hell, anything else, ALL YOU NEED IS THE MODEL NUMBER AND YEAR! Never again, Dell, and I make sure that I make my opinion known to prospective Dell suckers. You DO NOT need the equivalent of RFID to sell a part.
Considering that my SATA cable was for "Dell computers such as E510/5150, XPS400 / 9150 etc" The parts work across a wide range, just like most things. I don't give a shit what you Dell apologists say. If you can't make a unit simple, with interchangable parts, then you suck. Period. Finally, why the fuck should DELL care if a unit was stolen or not? If they get their money for the part ordered, it's not THEIR Problem. Creeping Socialism. What are they gonna do, call the cops? Nanny Statism in action. Finally, I could see where system tag could help a corporation. BUT...considering that most home users either upgrade a computer in a year to 18 months just like cell phones or wait until the farker drops, why would you put up with this crap. It's designed to make DELL profit off your stupidity. Conclusion: DELL is for morons/corps; not home users who know what they're doing. |

Pssst...err, buddy, if you were a SMART home user you would never tell Dell that you are a home user and you would never be stupid enough to buy from Dell's home division either. Their home division sucks royally. Smart Dell users buy from the Small Business Division. You get far better service and support from that division. I believe that even includes the XPS support (considered Dell's best) as the one time I used it I was appalled at the ignorance and rudeness of the tech even though he was in Texas and I can understand a Texas drawl as I grew up in Arkansas.
So, I don't think you are a home user who knows what he is doing.
Oh, btw, I don't think home users spend $2000+ on a new computer every year. Most folks I know upgrade only every 4-5 years or longer. |

So when you call your high speed company you don't tell 'em which modem you have
When you call your phone company you don't give them your phone number
The Service Tag/Express Service Code is for more than pulling up your account, it's for call routing. When you dial your express service code the IVR menu will direct your call to the "correct" department. I used " " because many time you don't get to where you need to talk to, but I found out that 80-90% of the people who get the wrong dept is because they pressed the wrong option or they have no idea who they need to talk to. _________________ I see DELL people!!
