Funnystuff, I believe two things about you by reading your posts. You either really love your job and want to counter the opposition OR you are just bored and want spir up the hornet's nest. If you doing really well and making a great living, i say good for you. If you pride yourself as a Dell employee, more power to you buddy. You have to also realize that there are people who don't believe the same way. The internet came bring together people who share ideas and thoughts. They can also bring together who believe differently.

I am not here to stir anything up.. I truly look forward to going to work every day.

Thanks for the positive reply.

What companies dole out to retain key employees.

Also known as what companies refuse to dole out, leaving them with flotsam of employees who are nothing more than overrated script monkeys that couldn't form a unique thought if it meant their life.

You must have landed on someone's "shit list" to be mistreated like that. Then again, this is Dell, so my first sentence is an oxymoron...

What I want to know is how can you take pride in slinging a bunch of crap that you don't make, or even Engineer? Dell makes subquality products, rips off consumers with credit scams, and puts legitimate customers like the US Department of Defense (Dell's largest customer) at risk with exploding 1U servers? All Dell does is market crappy products made by the lowest bidder (ODM's Compal, Foxconn, Wistron, LG, etc. are bid against each other to produce a series). There is nothing to take pride in when all you do is dishonestly cheat customers.

Sorry, but i've had alot of sales rep and customer service jobs and no one, I mean no one avoids responsibility like dell does. I was really excited when I first started but over time you'll see why we hate this company. As far as return employee's, i'll admit in a jam the pay was pretty good. But try working at the dell kiosks they've just opened, people out of no where just come up and rip you to shreds because of what dell has "sold or promised" them. And you stand there with your thumb up your ass because your not allowed to help them. your given no power to help handle angry customers. In the end your the example of how dell just takes money then leaves out on your own to figure it out, which would be fine if they sold it like that.

I have to admit, I like it so far. I've been at Dell since November 2005 and things are going great. My boss is cool. The coaches are really helpful. I haven't seen the side of Dell that some of you have. I know I'll get responses telling me how horrible things are going to be or how I must kiss *ss, if I like the job. I treat the customers well and I treat my co-workers like I'd like to be treated. So far, so good.
I just recently started at Dell in Round Rock. There will be some, "just wait and see how bad things get" replies, but I can guarantee you it won't ever get bad for me. Jobs are just like life, it's what you make of them.

Dell employs tens of thousand of people and has sold billions of computers. The people that are bitching don't even make up .005% of Dell's customer or employee base. The minority is always the loudest, while the silent, happy majority just goes on with their life. You can't please everyone, right? Dell is not perfect and they will tell you that. They are trying their best to achieve perfection, though. Take a look at how Dell compares with other computer companies and you will get a much better picture of how good Dell is.

The atmosphere around Dell is very good. You will find other employees talking, joking, and goofing around. The managers are very cool, relaxed, and want you to succeed. Benefits and pay are higher than comparable employment around your area.
True. You'll find people goofing off instead of working, spending half of the workday being socialites. Meanwhile you can't do your own job done because of waiting on these folks, and get chewed out for it. That's the reward for trying to be productive.

funnystuff
Had dinner the other day with a friend of mine who still works at Dell. Have to tell you the the 1/2 of 1% you claim to be the loudest and bitching all the time might not be right! He is stuck in a job that is so far below his talents and ability that I would laugh if it wasnt such a waste. Others that were on our team when it got "reorganized" after making Bob Yates look like a genius; one moved on to training from his job in ESR and apparently his new mangers can't believe he took a pay cut to get away from ESR (no more OT, but no more customers and jacked up stats to meet that are BS at best and at worse, another lie to push upstairs). Another one is still in ESR, stuck there because he is good, but not good enough to move up the ladder because he too good to loose at his current position. Throw those two in with the substantial number from my group that just up and quit after get dumped on by Dell(oops, I am sorry, dumped on Bob Yates, #1 Dell flunky!!) Yea, we are small in number, large in talent and ability; and pretty big results ($ savings to Dell). But I am fairly certain that if you looked, really looked, you will find people that are doing what they have to do to survive. They aren't happy, they know that dismissal is just a smile away, a missed stat, a metric that is 1/2 of 1% off the goal; and that all they can do is look for another job and keep their mouth shut while at Dell.
As of today, Dell employs a little over 82,000 people world wide. If we count everyone of those and put them into your .005% statement, then about 400 Dell employees or ex-employees keep this site up and running.(But most of the info on here is just from the U.S.A., so that 400 number really drops, might even be a low as 100 people.) Of course that number grows when we include customers, but most of the comments here seem to be Dell employess or ex-employees with comments on current problems at Dell or with problems first seen years ago and still at Dell.
So we might guess you think less than 500 people keep this site up and running. (Actually with just U.S. employees, that number is probably less than 150 people) This site would have died a long time ago if that were the case.
Get a life; reality and Dell truth with reach up soon and slap you right between the eyes. And once they are uncrossed, you will see that same things a lot of us have seen; massive amounts of BS, backstabbing, lying, and then UNEMPLOYMENT.

I hate to break it to you... but a big portion of the "elite" started out dirt poor and working like dogs.
