It did bypass the product key when installing Windows it puts it in without asking. The Gateway disk i have doese the same. I also got a Dell Xp Pro disk it doese the same. Another fiend gave me the Dell Xp Pro disk. It was never opened. Not sure how he got it. It had no product key. I installed it on the Dimension V350 im on now. Its saying i got 30 days to activate Windows. I get a invalid key also. Not sure why im getting a invalid key. The key is valid. I just don't understand because the Dell Xp Pro disk is legal. |
actually if you will be reinstalling the system using the CD where it originally came from. it would not be asking for the key..Dell is sending out 2 types of installers. the OEM w/c has the authentication number at the side of that tower.. but The Dell OEM version of Windows XP is "locked" to the Dell BIOS on the computer. This type of version doesn't require activation IF it recognizes that it is installed on a valid Dell computer. Trying to install on any other type of computer (perhaps even a different model Dell) will bring up an activation window. Of course, it will never be possible to legitimately activate such an installation since the MS activation servers will recognize that it is an OEM version being installed on an unauthorized non-Dell system. Therefore, it is a waste of time to even attempt such an installation
the 2nd type was the windows XP installer that has (SRC) or registration certificate * but sending the ones that has the registration certificate needs a manager approval * _________________ Be The REASON Customers Are Satisfied !

How positive are you that the new drive is in? Was the drive completely removed before installation onto the new hard drive?
Please post the manufacturers date of the drive that is currently holding the Windows installation that is running his computer? It is located somewhere on the label. _________________ Money is the root of all evil. It used to be that companies actually cared about their customers and their satisfaction with the product. there's an explanation as to how all that happened....
it's just a question of whether you want to hear the awful truth....
ready?
are you sure?
ok. you're friend is incompetent and mixed up the drives. that assumes they didn't do something to transfer the data from the old drive to the new. really, there's no other explanation. |

| I think my friend was mixed up. The CD-Rom went bad. This guy is old you have to forgive him. Thats what old age will do to you. But the real harddrive did crash a few weeks ago and he had to reinstall EVERYTHING. He was mixed up because his CD-Rom drive was a combo drive,CDRW/DVD combo. He thought it was CDRW/DVD/Harddrive all in one i think. |
