I have an outstanding BBB report against DELL right now for their Financial Services department screwing me over royally.

However, the person assigned to the report, Kerri Smith ext 7288592, doesnt seem to work for Dell anymore (or she doesnt change her voice mail). No one at the company can find this person.

I cant seem to resolve my case without her expertise on the matter. Therefore my credit continues to suffer because Dell says I owe them 500 dollars. What can I do now? Seems everytime I call DFS they wont accept the reference number, then try to give me the story about proper procedure and mess that I dont have time for.

usually companies won't respond to the individual once a BBB report has been submitted. I don't know who this person (Kerri) is, is she Dell or BBB. However, no matter how hard you try, you won't get anywhere with DFS. DFS is scripted for every event, you go outside their script, they will use whatever script is best until they just fatigue you into giving up. You ask for a supervisor, you get their escalation rep who does nothing either. You can get them to call you back with an escalation rep, which they are pretty good at doing (calling you back), but again, they just keep talking in circles until they tire you into just giving up. They don't care about any BBB, or any other agency complaints, because they will just submit documents that support their claim, and the BBB will say resolved. Plus if you are lucky enough to get something positive from the BBB, it will just go on their (Dells) record on the BBB and nothing will benefit you. Who really looks at the BBB prior to purchasing computers? Unless it is a small company nobody ever heard of. I don't know your specific case, but wish you well.

I dig it.

Dell: Hello, this is Dell DFS, how may I help you when you can not understand a word I say? First please let me tell you that there really is nothing I can do to help you except tell you how much you owe and what your next payment is. You see, everything is a click away on my "HP" computer, you ask your question, if it is not on the screen, well, I make shit up and my accent gets thicker so you can not understand. If you have any further questions, you're screwed.

Customer: I know that you will not be able to help me. I know that if it is a complex question like interest rates, finance charges, explanation of statements or even speaking so I can understand you, that you will not be able to help me, therefore, the only reason I am calling is, one, to let you know again, that I HATE DELL and secondly, I KNOW YOU ARE SCREWING ME and finally, it is currently a commercial. Thanks. Bye.

I have had a similar experience. I filed a complaint with the BBB regarding Dell's loan shark policies and threatening tactics and my own situation. Dell offered to drop one month's late payment fee. Well HAHAHAHAHA. I autopay ten days inadvance every single month and I STILL get late fees. I explained this to the BBB and got absolutely no response, case closed, marked "unresolved" I contacted the Federal Trade Commissiom= who told me to contact the Texas DA's office. I vow to fight Dell to the death. Evil or Very Mad

Through experience with the BBB, they really are worthless with regards to fighting consumer issues unless it is an obvious issue. I don't know exactly what your issue is, however you may have better luck with your state Attorney General. The BBB will put a note on Dell if you have a complaint, and they will tell you that it is resolved. They have two data bases, one that you and I can see on their website and another that they have in house that tracks same issues. If they get enough of the same complaints, they may procede to investigate. However, I don't think that they operate too efficiently. With your state AG, you need to prove improper business practices, use names, dates and detailed info. Most states allow you to file a complaint via online. However, most likely Dell will write back to the AG with some sort of correspondence that likely protects their interests; privacy acts, consumer agreements, correspondence to and from you, credit agreements, etc.,. If your issue is worth fighting for, you need to continue with thhe AG and counter everything they send your state AG. Someone needs to make an I hate the BBB website, because they really are worthless in my opinion. Consumers really have no protection unless you have enough money to hire an attorney and have a case that you can win, but most of the time, the trouble and money isn't worth it.
