Word from the rumor mill says an entire Dell sales team in Government Contracts got fired on Friday. They were not given notice or a chance to find another job within Dell. They were just told to pack up their stuff and get out. It is beginning to look like we are about to see a repeat of the Layoffs of 2001 in Round Rock and Parmer South.

Confirmed, Apathy. I know 'awarded' salesmen who were dumped in 2001. Performance is irrelevant. Resistance is futile. Rollins IS Locutus, and he LIKES it.

'Do' your resume, and memorize your SSN, you'll need both.

I expect something like this in Europe very soon again.
Almost in every country (France, Germany, UK) the numbers look really bad for Q1.
And because Dell Management only knows one answer, weŽll see some layoffs here too.
Well probably they will move those jobs to cheap locations (Casablanca, Bratislava, Halle)

Most likely not Gearbox. The shift change has already taken place at TMC and PN1. I know for a fact that at TMC that both 1A and 1B are litterally skeleton shifts that only produce about one third the amount of work that they used too. It takes both 1A and 1B coming in to actually produce what management considers decent numbers for that shift.

Also one more thing should be brought up. When the shift change at TMC occured, a lot of people from all three shifts did not get their first shift choice. In fact, quite a few got their least wanted preference for their shift choice. Also over 100 people lost job grades and pay rates. Because of these two facts, we had a lot of people quit because they did not want to or could not switch to a different shift or they did not want start out at the bottom again after losing job and/or pay grades..
