Here's my tale of woe.
I decided to order an LCD HDTV from Dell. I submitted my order online, but noticed they were dragging their feet about sending the order out. It appeared that delivery would take place while I was gone for 5 days.
When I called customer service to see if I could get the shipment delayed, I got a US rep who was unable to help me. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told that they were all in a meeting. "All of them?" I asked. "You mean you have no supervision right now?"
When he finally agreed to transfer me, he disconnected me (surprise!). The next rep just put me on hold...forever.
Thoroughly ticked off, I called a third time. This time, I was speaking to someone in India ("Max," he called himself...lol!) and told him to cancel the order. He talked me out of it by offering to expedite the shipping for free, so that the TV would arrive before I would have to leave.
Very pleased, I suddenly became in favor of outsourcing every last job at Dell. Unfortunately, the TV never shipped. Instead of expediting the order, Max cancelled it.
This time I used email to vent. I have a folder full of emails from Dell now. They offered me $100 off on the TV, so against my better judgement, I gave them my order. We're still exchanging emails, partly because I warned them that I work for a computer book publisher and am thinking hard about how best to relay my experience to their market. If the TV doesn't show up this time, sell your Dell stock...fast! Wink

DON'T BUY AN INSIGNIA TV FOR GOD SAKE Exclamation Exclamation

*lol*

Have you asked why your order was cancelled Question

And yes, if there is a meeting, all Supervisors will be in that meeting. You know, Supervisor's job is not to talk to you, so there is no point for him/her to be nearby the CSRs.

Anyhow, I'd follow ShaftDu's advise and purchase a Sony, don't be a cheap bastard, your Dell TV won't last long.

Please keep us posted.

I actually have been looking at both, but the prices seem too high.

No, I wouldn't buy an Insignia. What Third World country do they come from?
I have asked why the cancellation numerous times. They can't seem to come up with an answer. Bizarre. I got a partial answer from one rep, who seemed to think that expediting the shipment required an order cancellation. It may be that "Max" cancelled the order, only to discover that he couldn't re-submit it. This is why managers shouldn't run off and hide.
Sony's are very pricey. Their reliability is only average according to Consumer Reports. However, CR ranks Dell computers as reliable. Either Dell machines are well-assembled or CR is getting manipulated by someone at Dell.

Do not take it personal, but what a f***ing moron. Do not buy a POS just because of the price. If you cannot afford a good quality product, then you're obviously not ready for it. People like you just piss me off. I hope you get your Dell-damned TV and it burns out 1 day after the warranty expires. Maybe then you will learn a lesson and not buy Insignia... I mean Dell. You shall get what you pay for.

You've obviously experienced some of their "world-class" customer service. You can smell the smoke, you can feel the heat, you can hear the fricken' fire alarm, and yet you go for it.

Dang Nis, lighten up.

Now, on a lighter note, that if freakin hilarious. I used to work in TV tech support and that sucked A$$. I mean, those tv's sucked and there's no troubleshooting the damn thing, just replace it.

Here's a funny story from the world of tv's. This happened almost a year ago. I had a lady call in who was upset, but she put her husband on the phone so he could chew me out and tell me how unreliable our tv's were and that he was going to buy 2 plasma's for his business, i almost laughed, but he wasn't going to now, cause he didn't think the tv's were reliable. So, he puts his wife back on the phone and I start asking her what the problem is. She tells me that they just got the tv replaced and it's doing the exact same thing as the last tv. I said, well, what's it doing. She tell's me that a picture of Yassar Arafat was stuck on their tv screen. If they used the tv as a monitor it worked just fine. I had to try hard not to laugh hysterically. They had a satellite set top box in the house, so I had her unplug it and plug it back in. Guess what Question Arafat was no more. I tell this lady to tell her husband thanks for buying 2 more Dell tv's and hung up the phone.

First off, I can't believe someone replaced the tv for that, second off, I can't believe that lady wasn't then pissed at her satellite company for providing an unreliable set top box that could freeze at any time. The moral of this story: Customers suck @$$.

Deep breath, dude. Find your meds and rest for a bit.

I just realized I said, "I looked at both," but didn't say that "both" referenced Circuit City and Best Buy.

From the same country your Dell is coming from...do you consider China as a third world country Question

Even if Max's Supervisor was not on a meeting, s/he couldn't have done anything about re entering the order. Once it's cancelled, by mistake or not, you need to place a new one by calling Dell Sales or online.

It's funny how many of you say "third world country" or "third world hacks", but then pay us to teach you how to handle technologies you in a first world country have no clue about. For example, Microsoft has a contract with Best Buy, this contract is about MP3 players. Why such a contract Question
Because you people are so dumb, that 90% of the returned MP3 players are because of stupidity and not because they are defective. I mean, they are returned because people don't know how to use them or sync them with their PCs, then why the f*ck did you purchase it.

"Third World Country"...how many times people asked me where I am located and thought I am using a laptop, wireless satellite connected inside a tent surrounded by wild animals.

Go ahead and purchase your Dell TV, we'll see you in a couple of months complaining about it.

this message is to the orginal poster:

I hope everyone in this thread is NOT making you feel bad. See we all hate Dell for various reasons either working for them or buying one of their computers.

Now, you are one of the few people who ever posted about having problems with their TV support. That is new here. Dell is a company that has basically killed their own margin for the mighty buck. Since there is NO MORE money in computers, Dell is trying other things like TVs, MP3 players and printers.

I can understand printers. There is a lot of money to be made with refills PLUS you the consumer have to buy from Dell. You can't go to a local store for refills.

I am just confused how why someone would buy a TV from Dell. Unless you have visited one of their mall setups, you can't see what the picture will be like. You can't tell from watching it on a TV. And Dell is doing you the consumer a disservice by offering it at such a great price. They suck you in like a moth to the light.

I bought an Insignia TV at Best Buy today... it lasted 45 minutes. I swear to god I hooked it up and started watching a movie and 45 minutes in it went black and now it won't do anything but pop when I hit the power button. I have tried different power outlets, its the piece of crap tv. Is that a record?
