This came to me from a former sales rep.
The question was asked how does the Christmas season effect the Dell employee and customer?
I felt I needed to pass this one on.
For those who are new to sales at Dell they are told "the best way to get ahead and be in solid with your new job is to come in and work bell to bell"
Leave family behind "temporarily" they say. Then comes Christmas.
You are told this is your chance to get ahead and have some solid numbers.
So you stay and work long hours to the point that you can't even do any Christmas shopping.
Christmas comes and your are exhausted and don't feel the slightest bit of holiday cheer.
You feel you have been beat up and your manager is still telling you that your numbers are not good enough.
The volume of calls is higher but the volume of transfers, complaints and finance issues are through the roof.
All of course counted against your quota.
You will find in the end you have gained nothing and as usual you will get the same speech from the lame Dell management, Lifestyle and work balance.
At first in your head you buy into it but you soon see that this mayhem will go on forever with no relief.
My point is this, it is Christmas, you have one life and one family.
DO NOT LET DELL ROB YOU OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS IN YOUR LIFE!
No, it will do you no good to work bell to bell during the Christmas season as they will just raise your quota and the calls are riddled with customer issues.
I would tell Dell employees, this particular Christmas, with your family and friends will be one that you will never get back, -- ever!
It will be gone with you spending your time frustrating in a cubical, only to get lied to and mistreated.
Take the time for your family this Christmas season and most important, for yourself.
There are a very limited number of Christmas's in your life.
All you will have left when they are gone, are the memories.
Memories are things that you need and they are something, among many things that Dell will steal and rob from you.
They will take your very soul if you let them.
Don't believe me? Just look at the managers that work over the sales department.
They are pitiful. They no longer have any indication that a soul exists inside the person that they are.
Something inside me keeps thinking of the movie Stepford Wives.
Christmas, it is a magical season for those who still have imagination in their heart and a twinkle in their eye.
"DO NOT give that which is holy unto the dogs."
Don't make that sacrifice to Michael Dell.
Merry Christmas _________________ The E in Dell and the E in Enron point the same way!

I couldn't agree more. The holidays truly are a special time; if they pass you by, you can never get it back. Spend time with your loved ones, especially with your family. To Dell, you're just a number---a warm body filling a seat. To those who truly care about you, you're priceless. Who would you rather spend time with? _________________ Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia. |

Well I would say, this should not only apply for Xmas.
It should apply to every day.
There is NO reason to give Dell more then in your contract!!
Ok if you wanna make some extra bucks and yo don't have a family, then this is your choice.
But otherwise..Almost everything is more important in your life then the fuck @ dell.
Unfortunately a lot of ppl forget that and act like the whole world depends on this shit. |
