im applying dell as a call center tech support, i just wanna ask if anyone of you willing to share with me the possible questions that i should expect and be prepared in the interview?

Ok, well I will give you a little info about working for Dell tech support. Now, this is working in gold GTS tech support in the USA. I look at it more like customer service than tech support. You have to deal with some really weird and strange folks. And a lot of them do not want to work with you when you ask them to trouble shoot the problem. Sometimes you will get the KNOW IT ALL MCSE, and then the real fun starts.

And you will get some REALLY stupid people calling. Some will be pissed off, and some will be rude. But sometimes you will get the cool customers (this is rare). The turn over rate in the GTS dept is a bit high. We started with a class of 24 and 4 are now left, that was over a 5 month period. We had a chance to voice our complaints with a rep from round rock. We told her about the turn over, and she said “Well people find other jobs”

Yea, sure they do!! And all the ones that left (the 20) well I know all of them.. And there is one thing they all said “I can’t wait to get outta this place” (Dell). Beside the customers making your life hell. You have the L2’s and well frankly they treat the L1’s like shit. (And if you take the job you will be an L1 to start” I have had L2’s tell me the wrong thing.. Hell I know the answer and I ask them just to see if they know what is going on… Most of them are paper tigers.

Most of our L2’s sat around and traded WAREZ all day and music. This one guy had an external HD (300 Gig) HD hooked up , and had it shared out over the net work.. Warez and music galore!! Life is good when you are an L2!!!

Ok, before I wrap things up I need to say a few things about some folks @ ao-1 in Nashville GTS gold tech support..

This is my L2 improvement plan for a few L2’s at that location.

Connie-You really need to look into the Jenny Craig 911 plan, or get up ever so often and walk around.

Heath-You need to lay off dressing in your DC/Marvel comic outfits. And you need someone to shave the back of your hairy ass neck!! Cuz you look like some sort of side show freak. (Looks like a F*cking rug!!)

Nathan- You are not a PIMP you have no idea what PIMP’n is. And you need to admit that you are a middle class white boy that is having an “Ethnic Identity Crisis”

Christine- (not sure if that is how you spell it) You are a rude,nasty,mean ass carpet munching bitch. If it were not for DSN you would have no tech knowledge in your head what so ever. And I am not sure whose ass you kissed to get your position. And I dream of driving a spike through your big ass head!!!

Simple thing,all job seeker for dell should have strong technical troubleshooting with over then DTS..

Expert in all WINDOWS
Expert in hardware assamble reassamble
Intermediate Software knowledge
Good in customer service communications

and lastly for ONSITE ENGINEER YOU HAVE TO BE MORE CONFIDENCE TO DO A JOB...

If you're applying for an outsourced site, they just check to make sure you have a pulse...otherwise they will probably ask you troubleshooting questions to see how much you know about it, and what you would do to solve it...The interview might be a little harder if you are going to be supporting business customers, but the consumer segments don't seem to have standards (at least from what I've noticed)
