mrmimages,
Sorry to hear it, believe me, many of us feel for you.
easiest way is to simply ask for to be transfered to "spare parts sales" and you can buy whatever you have already determined you need.
or search google for a third party power supply "dimension 5100 power supply" and you'll find others to buy from, ofcourse there are no guarantees they will actually fit. |

The $39 fee sounds to me like your system is no longer in warranty. If that's the case, then expect to pay for support.
Sorry, but it's been that way for years now. Nothing new. |

Sure, but that was not the OP's point. How can Dell support do a remote entry, which is what they wanted to do, on a machine that won't boot is what the OP was asking. |

You’re right, got off track. I was a Dell tech and what upset me the most was people calling and demanding I fix the system they broke or in this case a problem that was not a Dell problem.
I have a Dell Notebook, I called to have the AC adapter replaced. It would not work or charge the system. I had a back up Adapter that worked fine. Keep in mind I was a XPS level 2 tech. The guy the L1 punted to when they were unable to fix. The Dell agent kept me on the phone for 2 hours trying to fix it over the phone. I had swapped it for a known good part. No tbl shooting required. I even had a DSN number... |
