| Quote: | | It amazes me that when people get entrenched in their moving up in a company, how they will break the rules to get there and overlook folks who play by the rules and give that extra effort even though they constantly ask for favors by telling you that they will look out for you as they move up. I can sleep at night because I have played by the rules but I am sure these folks can only sleep after having a couple of belts....... |

| I agree.. there is an ethical conduct that one must try to adhere to. At the same time we had to move boxes. I left because of these ethical considerations. I had a huge problem with broadband. I refused to do it and had to find my way out before I was let go. But such is the nature of the beast.. don't even get me started on the 2400.. I stopped selling it as well.. |

I totally agree with the "managers" wanting to look good. My manager always did that. In fact in one of our huddles, she basically said "you guys need to get your numbers up so I can get a paycheck this month". To me, that's not motivation at all. But to keep her happy, I would sell the crap out of the boxes... always had my kickers maxed out except for close rate. I was always about 23-26%... (in fact, was leading my team in Service, S&P, and DPA most of the time) because I wouldn't sell it if it didn't have service, s&p, and financed. Of course, I didn't hit Salinas, but it was mainly because it was put into my head by my manager, "If I max out 3 out of the 4 kickers, then she'll like me better and I will keep my job." However, of course that wasn't the case. You may be thinking, "well, if you filled the boxes, then why couldn't you hit?" Well, it was because I wouldn't sell the empty ones and get them off my phone... and unfortunatly there were more of the empty ones than the full ones. Granted, yea... I wasn't the best employee on the floor, and I couldn't hit salinas by this way of doing things... but it was all because my manager wanted to look good and embedded it into my head that in order for her to look good, I had to sell full boxes and not the empty ones. But hey, it's all good now.... because I am collecting unemployment at the moment, an actually bringing home about $200 more a month than I was working for Dell. Funny how that stuff works. |

Ah the amount of arguements I had with my bosses over refusing to sell those £299 system. Im not selling a PC that negatively effects my Paycheck. But these cheap systems are a joke 128mb of Ram on Win XP?? Good luck doing anything other than keeping a door open with the monitor.
PS does anybody else notice that nearly every issue is from idiot customers who buy the £299 2400 dimensions. Funny stuff |

| What does non-ecc have to do with it? They don't sell ECC Ram in any desktop. That is usually only for servers. Home users get no benefit. I have bought one Dell and it had the highest quality Ram you could buy IMO, Micron. |

Why would you tell them to turn it down? Piss on that. Your service may go down a bit, but hell you still gotta cover close rate goal each month to hit. What an idiot.
Hell only time I turn someone down is when I get someone who does have hte money to cover the box and theyre tried to do CAD or Doom3 on a 2400. I dont want the return. |

| Good to hear it. I had a customer just today that falls right into that boat. Turned around and bought 512MB RAM and a PCI video card so he can do some basic gaming. |

They sell the $299 POS to get those people who want computers but cannot afford them. Unfortunately, those people don't usually understand that their computer will not be lightning fast or come fully equipped.. That's marketing for you. _________________ I may not agree with what you say, but I will fight for your right to say it.

That system will be EOL soon, I suspect they're simply trying to get rid of inventory..... _________________ Practice what you preach. |

I can't wait until they have a $299 XPS inventory excess sale then! _________________ I may not agree with what you say, but I will fight for your right to say it.
