I bought a Plextor Drive from Dell and after 20 days the dam thing went all screechy on me. Dell won't do a thing! It cost me $200.00, So I'm just supose to be out of luck! Thank-God The Plextor company has the good sense to let me return it. They have good policies on there equipment. In the mean time I'm stuck without a drive for my home business. I tell you never buy from Dell, they are the worst. My Husband has a Dell computer and it SUCKS! I should have known not to get ANY computer or even a part from them. But I will never make that mistake again. I bought a Alienware computer gaming system and it ROCKS! Talk about a high powered, quality system. YaHoooo! They also have awesome customer service and return policies! GOTOHELLDELL! |

Or,as one member's signature says:
"DON'T BE LAZY,BUILD YOUR OWN COMPUTER"
I have built a total of 5 systems for friends and family, and have never has a single issue with them (apart from a few viruses, but we all get those).People say "buy a hell, its got a good brand name".People are lured in by the brand name.Take for instance, baked beans. One can is Heinz, and the other is Wal-Mart's own brand. They are,in effect, the same product, yet people will buy the Heinz baked beans because of the name.
And why may I ask did you buy an Alienware? You could have built a PC for the same amount of money they charged, and still had enough to maybe build another PC. |

'd have to agree, building your own PC is about the only way for you to know exactly what components are being put in and exactly how they are being put in. Plus if you build your own you don't have to worry about any issues with proprietary hardware, it sucks when someone brings me an HP etc. with a crapped out part and I can't get them a replacment unless I get it directly from HP because it's a proprietary part, otherwise I have to replace one or 2 other things to make everything work.
Call me cynical but I no longer trust anyone to build PC's for me. |

Just how easy is it to build my own system?? I mean, I'm trying to help a friend fix his Dell and I'm ready to throw the thing out of the window. He tried to call tech support and in the process of them "helping'" he was told to reformat the hard drive.
He lost all that data and hard drive #1 -- hd #2 failed.. and now hd#3 is in the machine. Luckily I was able to save his data off of HD#2.
At this point I'm thinking it would just be easier to get the parts and build a machine myself. He's soo disgusted and I am too.
Meanwhile, my 6yr old Gateway is still working w/out a single problem. LOL |

there is your problem right there...
you expect dell to fix Plextor's problem... see how that works.. Dell sells the drive that Plextor makes... not dell selling the drive that dell makes.... if dell made the drive then they would replace it..
let me guess... you didnt figure that out on your own but you wrote it all by your self...
