Defined the meaning of DELL...
http://dell-computers.urbanup.com/836257
I'm a support tech and have had way too many customers come to me with Dell laptops that have dead system boards early as 3 months after purchase. I started to research it after my 3rd one and found that there are so many models which have this problem. I found forums with customers spending $$$ on new batteries and new power supplies, when it had nothing to do with that. I chatted with customer and found that he wasn't aware if the battery light (test light) lights up when you press it "it's good!", and if you plug the power supply in and the charge lights come on the laptop, "then that's good", if the system still won't boot "it's the system board".
It's amazing how many customers don't get the extended warranty and then realize they paid $1000.00+ for it to die after one year!
Recently a customer brought me a Inspiron 600m, OMG that thing is a piece! It's sad how users are unaware that you pay for what you get.. I reference this to like buying a car.. If your going to spend $$$ on a car, you want it to last right?? Well it's smart to get the extended warranty since typically the standard is 3 years, RIGHT?? Do you really want to throw your car away in 3 years?? No, so you get the extended warranty for up to 5 or 10 years.... By then, it's time for a new one... Same with PC's and Laptop's... Unless you have money to constantly purchase upgrades, I sugest getting the extended warranty even on an HP... Or plan on throwing it away in a year or 2.
I recomend HP all the way. I have purchased from the highest business class to the cheapest model and still found that they run fine for 2 years at the minimum. I have all my customer's get the extended warranty and they can't thank me enough.. By that 3rd year, the HD or a port on the system board has gone bad due to daily use..... (cause at some point, something is gonna break, reguardless if it's a BMW!)
So my word of advice is to research any thing that costs that much! Take a few days and check forums on the model your interested in... It's worth that little effort to avoid frustration.. |
