Alright. So.
My brother and I have the same laptops, both Dell Inspiron 6000s.
After some time, both DC jacks on our computers went -kerplat- and stopped working. So my brother went and bought new DC jacks. His was the first to go, so he repaired his [the laptop I am currently on], and it works fine now. ...Except for certain positions of the cord. O.o

Anyway, yeah, his laptop isn't the problem. My DC jack recently stopped working. So my brother went and replaced the DC jack the same way that he did his.

But even after the jack has been replaced.
The adapter still won't be recognized.
And now I am forced to use my brother's laptop.

Yes, it's time for "What did I do wrong? What can I do to fix it?"

-_-

If it's under warantee still, call in to get your motherboard replaced.

You can check your warantee status here:

From the subject line, I thought you were going to say your keyboard was broken. But I think I get it, it's a profane acronym. My other thought was, gibberish subject lines are usually spam and I usually delete them sight unseen.

Most likely what happened was one trace, the data one, tore or failed to bond. You might be able to wire around it, or might not. You probably know by now, Dell laptops have a neverending issue with DC jacks since they went to the multipin connector.
